Recommend me a website/applet to download films/torrents

Right, giving up with ripping DVD's (unless anyone has a cracked version of winavi to give me? That worked alright, but massive NAG watermark) so I want to get some hardcore downloading going.

Reckon I can get a few films a day Need to pack out the hard drive before travelling again.

So, any recommendations. It's the old mans computer so can't install programs really, at least not obviously. And the net is slow isn't that fast anyway, so not going to be worth having multiple downloads at once.

Using Torrentscan.com to find torrents, but I can't seem to get them to work? Am I copying the right thing in to the bitlet box?

Would have thought you'd be okay installing utorrent, if it's installed without shortcuts on the start menu, desktop or taskbar then your dad will never know.

I just use Stagevu for films, it's all converted to divx so the quality takes a hit, but still perfectly watchable for me, that and sub 1gb files makes for short downloads.

Good for TV shows too.

Insert DVD, click "rip to pc"
Download Auto Gordian Knot
Click "Convert to avi"
Pick size you want e.g. 700mb

A mate of mine has promised to set me up on his server client thingy. It downloads the torrent for you, you whip it off of that. Sounds swish

search for film name and the word torrent

Bastard fooking thing. It seems an ok applet, but the torrents slowly wither and die, and you have to stop and restart them.

I just tried downloading something using that Bitlet site, it goes really slowly on a torrent that can max out my connection when using a proper bit torrent client. Bitlet is a waste of time.

Try and get a scene torrent site invite. They will max out ANY connection you have. Popular torrents can have 5000 seeds, 0 leechers with alot of those seeds being on seed boxes in data centres

scenetorrents is one of the less secretive ones. I've been on there a few times but always get kicked out for having a shitty ratio. There are much better ones about but you need to know a guy who knows a guy. I think the main difference is the speed of the releases and the nazi like facism for quality standards and correct tagging.

Can easily get over 1Mb/s a torrent on decent torrents.

I've played with private sites, but I've got enough stuff backed up to watch that I don't really need anything that much quicker/earlier.

Perhaps, but I'm not paying, and I can trust the download from his server to continue all night.

Thus, having a connecting speed of, snigger, 0.19mb/s isn't quite such a problem.

Currently downloading 2 films off there at ~30kb/s each

I got seasons 1-4 of Harvey Birdman, 4gb... He's putting that on DVD for me. Bob hope otherwise.
