Went out on my bike for the first time in 5 1/2 months today

What a blast, feel's good to be on the bike again. Was a bit of a pain though, as I moved the bike outside my house, went indoors, got kitted up and then went out to leave. Whiiir click click click. Battery was dead. Seems it was a bit weak, and trying to start it for the third time that morning was too much for it. Was rather pissed off, but stuck it on charge for 15 minutes and that was enough to get it to fire up.

So many bikes out on the Fosse today! I ended up riding behind a group of about 10 people which went upto about 25 at one point, then the group split. The sound was awesome! Don't normally ride with other people, but maybe I should, it's good fun having someone to chase after and play with.

Still can't decide if K-Tech buggered up my shock though. Seems rather lacking in rebound damping, but having been off the bike so long, I have nothing to compare it too. It's most likely all in my head, as they (should) know what they're doing!

Pah, weekend warrior or not, I like my bike. Having a car has made me a lazy git, but it makes keeping the bike looking nice easier!

Need to get it MOT'd next week, should sail through hopefully!

yeah all of a sudden ive seen many gsxr's, fazers and cbr's out and about on journey ive been doing the past 6 months all by myself.. and they cant ride for sh*t!!!

i like to call em cobweb bikers, who usually emerge from the winter with a false sense of confidence .

was out for a ride today and nearly got wiped out by more than one thinking he could just pick up where he left off 6 months ago.

I have nothing against people who just use bikes on the better days and admitedly if i had a car i would probably do the same. Its just the ones who come out all guns blazing and putting everyone else at risk.

I have no inclination to ride like I'm on fire, so don't act like a nobber, weaving all over the place through traffic and the like. Don't know if I'll bother using the bike to commut, as it's only about a 2 mile journey, and it takes longer to get kitted up that it takes to get there

I'm a bit obsessive about keeping things clean, so a dirty bike makes me a bit uncomfortable.

There were a ridiculous number of sport bikes around today. Was a good feeling riding my bike for the first time and not being completely surrounded by cars for the whole trip...

Just out of interest would people like to list some of the dangerous things that these inexperienced riders do? Just stupid overtakes etc? Might stop me getting into similar bad habits

Weekend warriors and fair weather riders don't bother me, if people prefer to ride when it's warm and dry then fair play to them. Besides, motorcycling as a whole needs them to buy nice new bikes each spring to keep the second hand market going!

However, the advent of summer brings out my personal pet hate/fear - Sunday afternoon group riders. Gangs of incompetents pushing themselves to and beyond their limits to either keep up with or try impress their mates. Now, obviously there are lots of people out there who ride well in a group and are able to maintain their better judgement and sanity when riding in a slightly competetive manner but there are also lots who can't and they scare me when I encounter them! I would class myself in the latter group, which is why I try to avoid riding with more than one or two trusted mates and even then I ride more cautiously than I would alone (I've had several near misses caused by concentrating on other riders rather than the road - my fault obviously!) If I want to thrash the bike and attempt epic cornering I go alone so I can devote all my thoughts to the task at hand.

I've been riding on and off through winter (dry days) but now I'm using the bike a little more because I'm actually beginning to enjoy riding again. I ride like miss daisy anyway

Only people who actually own a car should be allowed to harp on about riding through winter, if they don't have the option then of course they bloody will

I still ride my bike in winter maybe once a fortnight because I sometimes go places I can't park but it isn't fun. You can't hammer round corners as the roads are slippery and you have to wear so many clothes it's just a pain in the arse to kit up. It turns biking into tedious, utilitarian transport but without the benefit of a heater and a stereo.

Who gives a fuck if someone just rides when its nice weather. Do you have to justify how often you ride ? I wont ride if its raining, snowing, high winds, lower than 2 degrees, or if the roads are wet and salt is down. And i couldn't give a fuck who has a problem with that.
I ride a bike for enjoyment, not so i can be some holier than thou masochist.
