Hi
I recently had an accident and my exhaust silencer needs replacing!
The person who hit me is paying for it so i'm not bothered about how much it costs but should i get another standard exhaust or go for a sports exhaust like an arrow or a micron?
If i should go for the non standard one what one should i get?
would i have to change the jetting with a better exhaust and if so how much will it cost roughly and also is it ok to fit a non standard silencer onto a standard exhaust?

thanks very much for your help

The exhaust on the NSR is one unit, from manifold to silencer. I would suggest that you get a stock one, as race exhausts don't really do anything.

Get a standard one, as a sports exhaust on an NSR125 doesn't really change the power at all. Also their insurance might be funny about you using the claim to buy non-standard parts for your bike. The race/ sports exhausts will not be road legal, and this can lead to problems with selling the bike on (as not many new bikers would be okay with getting a bike with an illegal exhaust fitted, yes, we all know it's no big deal but to a new biker it might well be.), and can cause problems with police. It's not really worth the added hassle of a sports exhaust as it doesn't offer you any gains really.

Plus if the claim is being dealt with through your insurance company they will not take kindly to you wanting to change to a sports exhaust as they will charge you for modifying the bike and that's just money out your pockets for no real gain.

They are quite hard to find, and cost £250 new Confused If the exhaust is snapped along a straight section then you could probably get it welded. However going second hand will be easier, although I waited 4 months for one to appear and bought it for £40. Keep any eye out on ebay and ring around some breakers yards. Don't bother with a sports exhaust.
