Hi

I have set the float height to to 24mm, i have tried that. The bike runs fine but fuel drips out from the overflow pipe. I have tried to set the float height higher but still no luck still drips out. It seems that too much fuel is getting in the carb. Any ideas you could suggest.

Best regards

Gareth

My bike had the same problem, so I took apart the carb and messed with the float... didn't replace needles.

Now my bike doesn't run and still leaks gas... my next step is to rebuild the carb, including the jets and needle and seat.

If that stops the leaking, I'll let ya know

The float 'floats' up as fuel fills the float bowl. This lifts a needle up into the hole the fuel enters the carb.

When the carb is full the float should be pushing the needle into the hole stopping any more fuel from coming through. The hole is a brass ring that the needle has to fit precisely to make a fuel tight connection. If it's worn then fuel will carry on flowing into the carb and the only place it can go is out of the overflow.

Try buying a new float needle and seat and replacing them to see if it cures your problem (dirt can cause the same problem, but you say you've hadit apart to reset the float height so you would've seen any dirt).
