Hi folks, I have not really had the chance to play my 360 over the last year so never really bought any games for it, I have modified every other console I have had but not this for some reason and as a result I am a bit behind the times to what can be done with it.

I figured I may as well flash it and DL games but I wanted to know which mods you recommend and reasons why, are there any that you can bypass for using live but enable to play games etc? I think the last time I looked into it I was told to look at Jungleflasher but im open to suggestions.

cheers

It would be easier for you to send it to somebody else to be flashed. If your only going to be doing it once for yourself then it's not worth buying the Connectivity Kit V3, Via sata card etc.

If you've not used it for a while then it will have an old dashboard version on it, which means it can be Jtagged. I'd deffo go for that option, that way you can install any hard drive you want, mines currently 750gb. And you run all your games from the hard drive, no DVD's needed.

It's not safe to play online with a Jtag'd box though, but it is safe to play online if you just go for the DVD flashing option.

Thanks Bud, I think I will still have a pop at it myself as I used to do some pretty heavy mods on my old systems, I had a look at the Xecuter connectivity Pro kit but didnt know if it was actually needed or not.

The Dashboard is pretty recent, I use my 360 to play movies from my PC so it is used regularly - just not really for gaming, that said when I get free time I do like to play so I would prefer to keep it able to play online if required.

Looks like more reading required eh Smile

You'll just need a VIA 6421 card and a SATA cable. You can power the drive by leaving it in the Xbox.

Thanks, bought myself the card tonight and also got myself a stack of games backed up Smile Gotta love a 50meg net connection:)

Is Jungleflasher the best/most current way to do this, I might have to resurrect my old account at xbox-scene and try and get back up to date again.

One last thing, with a standard flash I take it I cant add bigger HDD's or is there a mod that will allow the temporary addition of larger drives when online gaming is not required?

Nope, it's nothing like the original Xbox's.

If you want to use a 250gb though you can buy a certain brand of laptop drive from eBay etc. and copy the SS of an original Xbox 360's 250gb hard drive.

I take it you've got a Dual layer DVD burner and some DL's, and you've verified all the games before you take them online?

Aye, I figured its nothing like the original xbox which in a way is a bit disappointing, I enjoyed all the soldering with adding in things like LCD's etc. flashing just seems a bit - er - minimal. ( I must try and dig out a photo of my last personal Xbox build, I wish I had never sold it.. - still got my crystal media centre sat around too)

I will have a read up on drives and see if it is worthwhile doing it, I have a DL drive and a stack of verbatim DL's so burning will be no problem.

Righty-oh then, pci card here, 360 all open and ready and I need a windows PC to do it - lol.

I am hoping that I can do what I need using virtualbox as I cant install Windows 7 on my current drive due to its GPT partition table (dual booting OS-X and Ubuntu)

N30, I have a couple of different tutorials in front of me, one is using iXtreme 1.6 and jungleflasher, one using iprep and another doing more work in dosflash and eventually iXtreme. I am more likely to choose the first option as it is using all the more current softwares - sound about right?

As long as it's 2.0.7371.0 or under your good to go Thumbs Up

I'm downstairs at the mo, trying to fit another 500gb on top of my 250, and adding 3 more fans.

Got mine flashed, run my first 2 games through abgx and although they pass nearly everything the stealth status comes back as uncertain. I flashed with Ixtreme LT in the end and am trying a couple of other games now to see if they pass verification to be on the safe side.

Just to add once abgx goes through its process the anyDVD returns as no errors found - does this mean it has been fixed or do I still need to have everything green before its safe?

Any other tips?

If you notice things go red, then it'll autofix it. I set autofix to level 3.

if you scan it again you'll notice it'll all be green.
