Fuel Indicator

Hey,

I bought some random geared 50 a while back, had a whole host of problems and with some TLC and money it's now rebuilt and allll back to normal.

It doesn't have a fuel indicator though, and I've run out of fuel before and forgotten I have a reserve tank. Is there any way to tell what the fuel level is without one? Like any tricks of the trade?

You can either set your odo when you fill up, or just open the cap and slosh the petrol in the tank.

The weight is one clue - the lighter it feels, the less fuel there is. You can also give it a little shake as savage says and listen for the slosh. Depending on the tank you might even be able to look inside and see the fuel level.

And yeah, get to know roughly your range per tank and use your odometer to determine when you're nearing the end.
