If you work for British Airways and have been on strike this week, next time you see a soldier/airman/sailor who have returned from operations make sure you tell him/her about your awful working conditions, poor uniform and low pay!! Let me know how you get on.

If you're a soldier/airman/sailor and want to complain about awful working conditions, poor uniform and low pay, make sure you tell the kids in Indian sweatshops. Let me know how you get on.

It's always people who aren't in the army that complain about the conditions, if you don't like it leave, plenty of crap jobs out there and nobody is forcing you to do them. You know the pay and the conditions (going to the sandpit) when you sign up, it's hardly sprung on you.

The point is, in the private sector you can leave and join a competitor. It's not quite that easy if you want to be a soldier.

My opinion on this is: You know what a job (the job YOU have applied for) in the armed forces entails, you know what the possible risks are and past record of people in such a position are.

It's only fair that you can complain about the working conditions, we all do, people seem to still take up such a role and expect a massive pay out when they lose a leg or similar.

I work in IT and the main (non likely) risk is electrocution, maybe my line of work is totally different as I would refuse to work if I thought there was a definite risk of harm/death.
I just can't see how ex soldiers think they are due some big pay out as they chose to do a dangerous job and got injured in the process.

Do explain!
