Basically went into the back of some 'lady' from Northfolk. Raining, heavy traffic, oil on the road which I didn't see.
Damage:

- Forks
- Head light (£300 alone 8 O .)
- Head cowl
- Both side upper fairings
- Screen
- Mirrors
- Indicators
- Tank (Only thing left not replaced)
- Gear leaver
- Instruments
- Break leaver
- Frame bracket
- Fairing bracket

Totalling around £800 - £900 brand new parts from Honda. Don't just look at eBay, learned that OEM are sometimes either the same price, or in fact cheaper. With the guarantee the parts aren't faulty.

Oil rain blah blah.

If you hit someone else you were following too close I'm afraid. Sorry to be harsh but be more careful next time.

Hi

Ooops.

Check the prices from David Silver Spares. Might save you a bit. Eg, fork tubes are £45 each.

All the best

In my opinion, That is exactly the reason why you don't buy a 2k bike as your first bike (or seccond if you started when you were 16) , the chances are you WERE to close to her, even if you don't want to admit it, we all make mistakes and the truth of them is often hard to admit.
The main thing (hopefully) that will come out of making these mistakes though is you learn from them and this in turn will make you a better rider, as they say, practice makes perfect, And I bet you wouldn't get so close again... Wink
Had you of been on an older, more common unfaired 125 , such as a CG then the repair cost would of been less than a few 100 quid easily,
This is exactly the reason I am selling my ZX7R and have replaced it with a DT125. The ZX7 was going to be my first "big" bike, but after careful consideration , I have decided that there is no point in having a faired bike / anything pricey until you have a few years experiance under your belt.
Jamie.

Yeah i know i know was going too close.
and you're right i don't want to admit it haha but i know i was.

i didn't take so much damage, just cuts and grazes along my leg, fractured shoulder and bruises everywhere else.

i was more concerned about the bike at the time. it dose make you a better rider, im just happy it wasn't a write off. with brand new parts all over i should sell it for more than i bought it for. - not that im making profit because i had to fix it in the first place but it's a comforting thought Wink -

All i will say is .... it happens to the best of us!

some people get abit silly and drop it, some people get pulled out on, some people just drop it standing still.

Shit happens at the end of the day, as long as your ok its fine. The bike can be fixed Very Happy or replaced!

Take it easy mate!

That's not very likely in my opinion. Unless you bought it at an absolute steal privately. Also I'd rather spend £500 on used parts and try sell it for £1500, than spend £1000 on new parts and try sell it for £2000. It's going to be infinitely easier selling the bike at a lower price, even if there is a few scuffs on the bodywork.

haha i thought someone would pick up on that
nah it's my mum pointing at shit

i'm not full comp insurance. fully comp would cost me around £300 a month because of my age

drivers some 20 year old girl.
she didn't get out of the car till the police arrived

i was unconscious and only because a rider passing by came over to help me. cars just drove past (shows how much better the biking community is better) Mad

he helped me to the side of the road and called an ambulance.

she claimed on my insurance for £100 boot after denieing doing it privately and i quote

i got it for £1,550 which was a steal IMO. 8k miles, 57 reg, no scuffs, all stock parts.
and thats the point there was no used parts i was looking for weeks. they're are some all over the place, it's the fact that i can buy them new for the same price.

PS i can't use the old fairings.

100% agree. My first bike cost me £500 and so I wasn't bitter at all when I was forced to move on to my next bike when there was no life left in it. I almost miss riding something I hate and have no care for dropping etc... it completely changes the way you approach the road Laughing

i see where your coming from but i also think that it's a negative way to look at things, i've only had faired bikes and how much i spend on a bike is down to how much cash i've got rather than how good i am (i'd still be on my nsr Wink )

there's a difference to how much it's worth and how much i got it for.

the 'steal' bit is like saying i got it cheaper than it's worth.

like stealing.

/facepalm
