Proper way to warm up a 2 stroke? (RXS100)

I've owned my RXS100 for just over a week, and now I've got all the little faults sorted out I'm pretty damn happy with it. However I'm still not sure what the best way of starting and warming up the bike is.

I've read a bunch of conflicting opinions like:
-Leave it on idle for a couple of minutes
-Ride it as soon as you've started it but keep the revs low for 5-10 minutes
-Just ride, 2 strokes don't need warming up

What I currently do is start it, which usually needs a little bit of choke, then turn the choke off almost immediately and idle it for about a minute while I get my gloves and lid on, then ride it below about 5-6k for the first few minutes.

Can any 2 stroke owners share their technique?

I used to kick start mine leave it running while I gear up them take it easy for half a mile or so.

In all seriousness you don't want to rag it before it's warmed up. Leave it idling for a couple of minutes then jump on and go without using high revs. After a couple more minutes push it as hard as you like at the kind of speeds you would travel around town. After that it ought to be warm enough to suffer redline punishment. What do I know though, I don't own a 2 stroke.

I just fire mine up and leave it idling for a bit, then go out riding keeping the revs below 5k and not letting the engine labour till i can feel warmth in the engine when i put my hand on it...

depends on weather and the bike everyones different,

on my Honda mtx 125 at this time of year i start it up with choke on for about 1 minute until the revs increase

usually by that time i have all my chans and padlocks in my bag and i am ready to ride away Smile

in the hot summer iel be starting the bike up with no choke, gear on and off

My view is just start it and ride it as soon as it will safely pull. Just keep the revs down.

In some ways 2 strokes are less dependent on being warmed up first. The high performance ones counter this though with large ports to snag rings.
