I've just noticed small cracks in my front tyre and just wanted to ask if this was normal wear. The tyre is two years old and has done 7500 miles.

I'm travelling to europe in a couple of weeks so I'm just making sure the bike is fit for the journey.

Cheers

Looking at that tyre and the thought of a trip to Europe that is possibly going to involve 1000+ miles.
I would get a new one fitted.

Judging by the shadows on the right of the picture, it looks like it has plenty of tread, but it could be an illusion.

I can't see anything wrong with the tyre.

The little cracks are from where the rubber moves about, changes temp etc. Older tires also lose the oil from them and can crack even if unused. I've ridden thousands of problem free miles on tires that have looked just like that.

That BT45 looks fine.
[edit] like iooi said. A long european trip?...might be prudent to have full tread depth.

I didn't want to mention it but I'm glad I'm not that only sad person to notice it was a BT45 Laughing

My front looks a bit like that, with the slight 'perishing'. Hasn't been a problem really, might replace before MOT but that's another 9 months (or 9'000 miles) away. Twisted Evil
