External, portable hard-drives are really cheap, so I think hard-drive swaps are the way forward.

Swap a few ripped films with some friends, get them to swap with their friends, then copy the ones they got from their friends and before you know it you've got 1.5TB of movies And not all of them are porn either

OK, it's a bit trickier to get latest films this way, but I can live with being a year or so behind. If there's a film I really really want to see I'd prefer to watch it at the cinema with a few friends and make a night of it anyway

No the issue is that they need to make things that people feel is worth buying rather than sticking restrictions and or paywalls.

In that biz always thinks those are lost sales but they are not as people wouldn't have bought it in the first place. There is so much manufactured rubbish out there, a bazllion and one tired old sequels that get worse and worse there is hardly anything original to convince us to part with our cash.

I don't download much as I don't find anything worthy of download. A few things I have have been demos which were good enough to convince me to pay the $5 to activate it.

Defcon everybody dies is an excellent example.


It is just a shame that the publishers with their dinosaur business models haven't realised this yet.

never download latest stuff anyway as the quality is never good enough, i wait for at least a dvd rip with ac3 sound track.

these days i never bother though.

as for having them on an external hard drive how does that help when they already know you have downloaded it due to IP addresses etc?

I know it is not in UK but if it happens over there, it is only a matter of time.

You only have to wait 2-3 weeks from US cinema release date for a decent copy to be on torrents.

If I hear or see an advert for a film I put into 2 categories.

1. Cinema, go to see it there. Usually on a Wednesday when it is £3.50

2. Download it. If it looked average, I will download it. DVD's are a waste of time IMO. Paying £12 for a film you will watch once maybe twice. We have a 60gb daytime and 300gb night time download limit so it doesn't "use up" my bandwidth.

I don't download pointless stuff. If they start prosecuting downloaders in the UK then I will stop. I would rather just go to the cinema
