I generally nod to all bikers I pass (though not to scooter riders which I don't qualify as bikers).

I've noticed that Harley/Cruiser riders tend to nod back, whatever I'm riding. Most sportsbike riders do too, especially if I'm riding a sportsbike. However, 1200GS/Varedo/other sensible mile munchers are much more ignorant and ignore me. Even if I'm on the fox-eye Fazer which looks like a similar old man's tourer type thing.
I reckon they either think they have been riding too long to bother with such frivolities as a friendly nod, or are too old and unobservant to even notice other bikers.

I've also noted that fewer people nod if I'm riding and uncool bike (Fazer, Gpz, SV etc), slightly more nod if I'm a faired sportsbike, but I get the most returned nods if I'm on the Speedtriple. Is this a bike that transcends biker class divisions?

Opinions welcome...

Scooters dont qualify as bikers?...
I think someone is about to open up a can of worms! Laughing
So what are people supposed to ride at 16, on a budget, yet want a bigger bike like a Fazer when they grow up?
So you've pretty much designated yourself as the "Yeah, I'm a biker kind".
Get the fuck over it, You ride a motorcycle. So do most of us here.
cause I ride an RXS am I not "Biker" enough for you?"
I'm not going to bring the 27cows+me Vs. Everyone else Small/Large bike argument up again, but just deal with it.
Nodding? Not getting a nod back? TOUGH SHIT!

I don't consider myself superior to 50cc bikers and it's not about engine size - I nod to L plate bikers, but scooter riders are usually in a clique of their own and never nod to me in the first place. Scooters seem to be a statement of style/fashion/lifestyle and while I am certainly not against them, they seem separate to other bikers.
Anyway, you ride an RXS which is not a scooter, it's a bike, so stop spitting the dummy

i nod to most bikers except scooters, don't know why but arround huddersfield i don't see many scooters anyways Razz

i do get a few bigger bikers not nodding but ah well live with it,

also i hate it when some one on a super bike nods at me but i realise it at the last minute and its too late to nod back Sad lol

i enjoy it most when i get other bikers on simular bikes to mine (honda mtx 125) and nod, don't know why but feel more related lmfao Razz

i suppose main reason i don't nod at scooters is cos they try and race my 125 and think their cool.... then they lose Mr. Green

Slow peds are often *waaaaay* more dangerous on the roads. Honestly, if these parents could only see the tailgaiting that their kids have to put up with all beacause the parents have a chip on their shoulder about 'them pesky bikes' then they'd think twice..

9 times out of 10, They're not doing it cause they think they're faster, It's just a challenge keeping up, and immense fun trying. I should know, Trying to keep up with blades on an RXS is hilarious for both me and the other rider, But I dont do it cause I think I'm better

Nod to all bikers and if they dont want to nod back, well thats up to them. I think young kids on scooters and 125cc bikes like it when someone on a big bike acknowledges them rather than ignore them. Harley riders, well what can I say, but i still nod and just smile to myself when they ignore me

If i have time, I sometimes get my willy out and wave it about towards the oncoming rider.

if they didnt nod at first, they will certainly be shaking their head after...
