 |
|
Hi, I Like the forum, it's been quite helpful already so I thought I'd register!
Can anyone with good mechanical knowledge tell me whether an exhaust from a zx6r J1 model fit onto an F3 model? I've tried looking around on the internet but to no avail.
Also, I have considerable difficulty finding decent parts stores for the F3 as it's 1997 and almost every part is for 1998 and newer bikes, can you suggest a decent supplier for mechanical parts?
Thanks in advance! ____________________ If you can't fix it with Gaffa tape, you havn't used enough Gaffa tape! |

Yes it's got 3 Bolts to the downpipes. It's the original standard one ____________________ If you can't fix it with Gaffa tape, you havn't used enough Gaffa tape! |

Then you can buy any 3 bolt can, except one from a Fireblade I believe. (bore is too big)
The following bikes will definately fit,
Triumph
TT600
Speed Four
Daytona 600/650
Suzuki
RF400/600/900
Bandit 1200 around '00
Kawasaki
ZX4/6/7/9R late 90's - early 2000
Make sure the can has a 3 bolt fittment if it does and comes from one of these bikes it will fit.
If you go to the Leo Vince site it gives you dimentions of the cans for various bikes
https://www.leovince.com/files/F1064/DT-6373.pdf
That is the technical drawing of the can for a 2000/2001 ZX6.

To find others just search make and model on the above website then click the technical drawing option. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

Before you heed Chris' advice, I'd like to say NOPE THEY DONT! - Personal experience will tell you that the bolt spacings for the F are totally different to the G/J/A1P etc... unless you want to drill into your exhaust flange to get the spacing right, then you're pretty much stuck with cans specific to the F's. Get a can from Fuel/Blueflame/Beowulf that's specific to the 97 F3.
Coming from a ZX6R-F owner, my mate had a spare generic 3 bolt can which I tried to fit onto my bike after i stacked it and dented the can... it was a NO-GO. The bolts didn't line up which left me with the unenviable task of sourcing a new exhaust system for the bike (i found out at the same time that the headers were rotten!). I was lucky I got a full titanium "swona" system off mcnninjas for £130! It was a well made system by some specials exhaust maker up in edinburgh... no longer in business.
But in short.. the answer is NO they won't fit.
Parts supplier - Try googling for CRADLEY KAWASAKI - they always stocked parts for the F1-3's.
https://www.cradleykawasaki.co.uk/
Ring them up and ask for their road bike spares.
Pretty fast service too.
Failing that, www.wemoto.com is good for pattern parts. ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

Cheers for the link to the F3 stockist Titz!
I was a little bit sceptical about the exhaust as having owned the F3 for over a year found parts are a pain to find for it so indeed checked my exhaust bolt measurements off of the diagram for the J1 on the Leo Vince site (as well as revved it a bit with the can off coz I'm a kid!) and found out scepticism paid off!
Eventually found one on ebay apparently off an F3 and compatible with F, G & J models with a road legal stamp and removable baffle though so when I've got it I'll let you all know ____________________ If you can't fix it with Gaffa tape, you havn't used enough Gaffa tape! |

Bloody hell are you a spy? Haha Titz-007! Yeah that was the one I was bidding on, set a max limit tho so don't think I'll win the auction anyway.
I'm looking for a road legal exhaust with a nice deep gargling sound, the standard one still sounds good to me though and I've just spent a fortune on a download ticket so not in a mega hurry! ____________________ If you can't fix it with Gaffa tape, you havn't used enough Gaffa tape! |

Haha, downloadfest and 6R's go hand in hand... mine was a veteran of 2008... it had TOO much dirt and grit blasted over it when i left her without the cover on for too long.
Like I said, if you DON'T fancy trawling on ebay, these guys sound good, are affordable and come highly rated.

Any of those should fit your bike... guaranteed. £130 for the standard exhaust is a good shout since you've got removable baffles.
You'd be looking for a long time for a decent ZX6R F exhaust to come up on ebay that WILL actually fit. I had a round micron on it and I can say that the oval profile suits it nicer. ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1
