Evening ladies and gents, could anyone offer me advice on this..

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201013356003118/sort/priceasc/usedbikes/price-to/500/engine-size-bikes/70cc_to_225cc/page/2/postcode/ng86gu/radius/1500?logcode=p

I've been searching for a 125 for a while, this has come up 2miles from my house... With regards to what it states in the description...

Quote:
At a minimum it needs a new rim on the rear wheel (which can be taken from the spare one) and new rear brake caliper (unfortunately the KDX one will not fit without modification). The battery is dead and almost certainly beyond recovery. A carburetor overhaul will probably also be required because it has been allowed to dry up (they tend to get fowled up with two stroke oil)

do you think it would still run as I doubt it would be able to be seen running before I could take it away... Have a van for it, but just the bits which need doing slightly worry me, that I'm not amazing with the mechanic side of things (improving slowly) but have a lot of friends/relatives who can strip engines with their eyes closed practically so getting it sorted shouldn't be a problem (although I'd prefere to do it myself without their help!) just curious what anyones input would be?

is it easy enough to do myself with little mechanical experiance?

Depending on your advice I will be giving the guy a call tomorrow and hopefully going to have a look/take away tomorrow/sunday Smile

If it starts and runs then could be worth a look. If it doesn't I would avoid, avoid, avoid!

I would try and knock a bit of money off at the very least. £350 strikes me as a lot for a non-runner that needs a fair bit of work. My bike is in far from perfect condition but it was pretty much road worthy when I picked it up and for a first bike I think that's important...

I'm pretty confident it'll need 2 new tyres too (whether or not they "look OK" it would be potentially dangerous to not change them), if it's been stored for 9 years or so on the old ones.

The postcode covers a number of buildings which in more rural areas could be miles apart. It doesn't mean you'll be able to find his house.

Its like those people who cover their number plate when they take a photo of their bike, really whats the point when its on full display to the 60million uk population every time you ride it.
