Exhaust was sanded cleaned and sprayed with Plasticote BBQ paint, gave it 5 coats so will leave it 2-3 days to dry berfore fitting, see if it stays on Confused unlike the halfords crap.
And just to check, can anyone confirm the torque tightness of the two small bolts that fix the pipe into the cylinder head and should there be washers?. It took no effort at all to unscrew them out.
Bike is a 2007 YBR125.

Thnx
Mark

Yeah, looks good but plastikote bbq paint burns off.
I know cus I used it. Looked shite after a 10 min ride.

I ended up stripping it off and using sperex, a proper VHT paint.

Well so far so good, put it on this morn and ran idle for 5 min then let cool repeated that for 10 then 20 min let cool for 40 min, then went for a ride for 15 min. It dulled a little near the cylinder head but all seems well so far, will go for another ride in an hour or two. I assumed the halfords didnt work because it was one heavy coat and ridden 30 miles 10 hours later, fingers crossed for today an tommorow. Very Happy

The thicker you put it on the slower it burns off. I painted mine with HT paint and it was fine for a week before it then stripped itself over the course of week 2. Used VHT paint next time that lasted longer but looked shit Razz

I used Halfords high temp 'engine enamel' paint on an exhaust and it proved incredibly resiliant.

I have used halfords high temp engine enamel a few times on the car, sump, headers and a bit of the gear box.

Lasted very well on sump and gear box, burnt off a wee bit on the headers - wasnt a cosmetic job anyway so I didnt really give a fook tbh Mr. Green

Lol it's not that bad. Mine stripped off the down pipe but the end can part stayed fine. Expect it to strip around the outside of the bend where it attaches to the engine.

I used BBQ paint on the downpipes of my old GPZ. I made the mistake of just 2 or 3 thicker coats instead of a higher number of thin coats though.
It all looked great ... until I started riding it. Nearest the cylinders burned off first, leaving a mottled tarnished look - although it wasn't really a cosmetic problem because the bike had the fairing lowers fitted.

As ever it's a lot to do with the preparation - I always remember a work colleague telling me about "The 7 P's"...

I've never found a high temp paint that actually lasted well. Chrome, stainless or ally pipes are the way to go Laughing
