Boots go over leathers but under jeans.

If you're lucky enough to get leathers / trouser to go anywhere near your boots...I on the other hand have to endure exposed ankles or wear walking gaiters to bridge the gap!!!

Ideally I like my leathers to go inside my boots, but I have to faff about making sure that the zipper on the leathers doesn't dig into my ankles, as it really irritates me when it does!! Embarassed

I never wear jeans on the bikes, but boots go under textile / waterproof gear, else they fill up with water!! Rolling Eyes

I know it's really "uncool" but I don't bother tucking in my boots and my tight jeans.

Tbh, I think that the uncool thing is to actually care about what other people think about you. Plus anyone who actually cares whether some stranger has tucked his trousers into his boots are not could easily be ripped if they said anything.

The textiles would go over if it was pouring though, but apart from that the boots go over.

There are too many bikers who spend too much time thinking about looking cool rather than just doing their own thing.

I blame that on the bikes.
Some bikes make the riders image conscious, others dont.
I was all about the image for about 4 years, had to have the best boots, best gear, and look cooler than everyone else.
I dont know why it happened or how i got sucked into it, but once i stopped riding flashy superbikes and bought a commuter i lost interest in image overnight and couldn't give a toss now.

If i buy another superbike, i bet it all comes back though. Embarassed

What a load of bollocks, bikes don't make the riders image-conscious. Insecurity does that.

Really.I disagree.
If you think it's bollocks can you explain why i couldnt give a toss now that i'm riding an er-6? but when i had my aprilia and my 6rr etc i wouldnt even leave the house until my boots were clean and the bikes were polished?

If i was insecure before..why am i not now?
I still say some bikes have an effect on image, and i stand by it too. It's certainly true for me, atleast.

Because you are worried about what other people will think of you when they see you on a tidy bike in scruffy gear.

Call it what you like, insecurity, self-consciousness, vanity - whatever. It's not a trait bestowed upon the rider by the bike.

I tuck everything into my boots, including jeans. If I wear big biker boots under trousers everyone assumes im a lesbian Sad Although I learnt a valuable lesson recently about how waterproofs should go over boots when it rains....

PS - im not a lesbian tyvm.

That was a poor attempt at an explanation, and a wrong one.
If you see it like that... that's cool, just end the conversation there.
Certain bikes have an effect on me, and nothing more needs to be said really.
Insecurity and stuff has nothing to do with it, that's just a generic reply repeated by many without much thought.

Ok why don't you explain it because it was you who just posted this:

I don't think that bikes make the riders image concious. I think it's more due to image concious people choosing certain bikes. I'm guessing that you don't feel you are as image concious after getting your ER6 because you probably weren't so image concious when you bought it.

I will admit that I am concious of other peoples opinions and the image that I portray (anyone that says they aren't is probably lying) but I am only concerned with the opinions of people that matter. I couldn't give two shits if joe bloggs thinks I'm a "fag" when they see me with my jeans tucked into my boots riding a CG or because I don't fit into their standard.

I was amazed that it took me ten minutes (literally) to talk a friend into wearing a high visability jacket on the back of my bike while taking a trip to Arrochar just because he was concerned about what total strangers who wouldn't even see his face would think of him.

Usually the people who are so quick to judge are the ones that don't matter. The less people like that the better and maybe we'd all just do our own thing rather than trying to look cool and fit in.

Yes, i posted that, but what do i need to explain?
My opinion was & is that some bikes have an effect on the riders image of themselves, and others don't.

You called it bollocks, but i think you're wrong.I say you are wrong because of how some bikes have affected me, and also other riders i know, so i dont really understand why you are making a big deal out of it .You aren't the voice of the entire bike world...are you? Confused
We're all different mate and what i said was just my own personal opinion and experiences. Its not bollocks but you can think that if you want to. Thumbs Up

Riding a recent sports bike I wear about the same as I do riding a very ratted naked bike or an 'adventure' style bike.

I can see that some who chose the bike they ride on looks as much as anything else wanting to match it with other sparkly bits. The psychological reasoning for this is another matter Smile.
