Does anybody here have a private plate on their bike? I was considering buying a private plate for my new bike that is similar to the one on my car... then it occurred to me that not many bikers have private plates and I might look like a muppet...

Is it the done thing among bikers?

There are both O's and 0's in reg numbers, but in this case you're probably right because DVLA reg checker has no BMW listed with that reg.

Just because other people do something too doesn't mean that any of them won't look like muppets Wink.

My bike has a plate which everyone seems to think is personal, but as far as I know it came with the bike. Never bothered checking though.

Its

Rxx
XPX

Where the xx are numbers. Anyone care to shed any light?

I had a VW polo which came from the dealer (many moons ago) with a similar layout- I think it's just up to the dealers if they want the hassle of registering it specially?

If buying new the dealership can source you number plate which could be relevant to the buyer.

I know a guy that got his initials as the last 3 digits on his plate, when he bought a car from new.

I had a look for HY05 UNG a while back, but I think someone already got it before me. Mad

Two digit number plates were just standard plates - my old laguna used to be N27 RRU which people have thought was private.

You'll look like a muppet regardless whether the private plate is on a bike or a car.

Mine is Jxx SNK, came with the bike. Might not be personalised though from G said, i always thought standard plates were 7-digit.

Got a private plate on the bike. I originally had it on my car, which I sold, and the replacement car was too old to put the plate on.
