Newbie - no lessons

Aright planning to get a bike on the road.
Some people say do a CBT and learn on a 125 some people say go straight to onto a DAS course

Does DAS include tuition or is it just all tests and you are assumed to know what you are doing (excluding CBT)

what do you think....i have never ridden a bike before (well once when i was younger), got 2 years on road experience with a car if it helps.

DAS is instruction for 1,2,3, or 4 days with a test at the end of the week, and can include CBT as well if you request it.

Driving a car will give you a degree of traffic experience but will not help you ride a motorbike. You would be advised to take lessons if you are not a competant rider. You have many things to learn, about road awareness, road safety, road conditions etc. things that you wouldn't automatically be aware of from driving a car. Idea

ok so i dont know how i will be on a bike, but right now im revving to go (excuse the pun), so should the tuition from the DAS be enough.

My original plan was to get a CBT done and practice on a 125, do a theory and get a full licence within a couple months, other peeps are saying just go for a DAS

I guess it totally depends on you, and how you perform, as to whether you pass or not. I have tried and tried to perfect the art of telepathy and predicting the future, but haven't quite succeeded yet. So cannot help you on that score.

I do know plenty of people that have never ridden before done DAS and passed first time. I also know plenty of people who have ridden before, done DAS and failed.

Are you happy to ride around on a 125 for a few months while you learn? If you buy a second hand 125 then you are pretty much guaranteed your money back, assuming you don't get ripped off and don't destroy it!

Do you have £400-£600 for DAS training and testing?

A CBT will cost £90-£120 and will give you enough knowledge to get you on the road. The rest is just time in the saddle. I would still recommend maybe half a day pre-test training just to check that you are as good as you think and to iron out any faults.
