Hi there , was wondering what you guys think of the Hein Gericke 'Hiprotec' system . Has anyone experienced it 'in action', first hand?

I've got some Hein Gericke leather pants with Hiprotec knee and hip protection , they are incredibly comfortable but was wondering how it compares with regular armour .

It's got good reviews, and is better performing when in an accident, than some of the old style armour. I have these in my textile clothing. But thankfully not had to test them out yet. Although I am sure that these have been tested before they put them out there.

Did the job multiple times and yes, they are comfortable but do not suffer any detrimental effects whatsoever.

The trousers I have really are the most comfortable I've ever worn!

Makes my other stuff with full armour seem so restrictive.

The best advantage they have is how flexible they are. The guy at HG used to prove a point by dropping a weighted ball from about 2ft (you know those metal ping pong balls that you twiddle with on your palms as stress relieves) onto a glass cabinet with the hiprotec just to demonstrate the impact absorbency of it.

They also have the sastec armour which is the more flexible gel/foam type armour. I've also had a spill with them on too. It did the job when I went down on my side... hips weren't aching at all after the spill.

I've been off twice with it, once quite heavily onto my hip, the armor was really good took a lot of the impact and left me with little dimple bruises rather than a huge one, they went quite quickly too!
Very simple idea that works well.

I had a Gericke 2-piece a few years ago with Hiprotec - the knees on it were so fucking uncomfortable that i had to take the hiprotec pads out.
It came down to a choice of either having slightly less protection in a crash, or losing the use of my legs from the knee down due to my circulation being cut off.
I'll never buy Gericke stuff again, the zips sliders kept breaking, i returned the trousers twice and the jacket once for all the seams coming apart. My brother bought a different Gericke 2-piece on the same day and his experience was fairly similar - seams falling apart etc etc.
Bag o'shite.
Thumbs Down

I can confirm they work.
Low(ish) speed tip over.
I landed on my side.
Hip armour worked well, bruised above hiprotec though.

Trousers were the Cordura type jeans. They held up very well also.

They're so thin and flexible I'd recommend them.
Have them in trousers and jackets.
In the summer jacket they work very well as in don't notice them.

Wow! I can hardly believe we're talking about the same stuff?

I find my trousers so comfy and flexible , that's why I was asking if the gear actually worked , I thought nothing this comfy can be effective! As for the quality , I've had no problems at all , maybe you and your brother got a dodgy batch Question

RIDE mag did a multiple crash test on Hiprotec and other CE armour a few years back, and they said that Hiprotec was the ONLY type of armour they tested that was good for multiple impacts.

Obviously armour technology has probably moved on a bit since then, but its telling nonetheless.

Surprising it's not more widely used really.
