Won't bore with the details. Mate driving like an asshole, hit a tree at about 50mph in a 30 zone. Then I got out to push it back on the road, and he legged it.
Don't know why but he ran like the wind. Any reason the police WON'T find this suspicious?

From then on, I and the bicycle feelings deeper.

AFAIK he wasn't drunk. He had a pint of cider a few hours previous in my company.

Ran after the little cunt. On hindsight, also a stupid thing to do, but I'd had a few stellas.

Who's car was it?

If this is for real(and I highly doubt you made it up);

You really need to be asking him said questions...

Don't mean to sound like your mum - but is this someone you want to be hanging with?

Legged it, potentially leaving you to face the music for his stupidity? Fuck im.

However, I suspect you were as much of a tit as he was. 50 in a 30 is a no no. It's not clever - it's adolescent.

Get off the roads you road hog.

Did he go to recover the car afterwards or was it not driveable?

I suspect if it wasn't driveable and he left it there, the police will find it (or get reported to them) and trace it back to him, assuming he didn't nick it, and get done for flee'ing the scene of an accident. Which even in a single car accident, is still against the law.

I think he was telling you porkies with regards to how much he had drunk. Someone in a fit state of mind and sober wouldn't leg it after crashing a car. So what if the police come, it would be hard for them to prove he was speeding.

Yeah, the police found it and removed it from the scene. I've had a word with him and he's accepted what I've said. He's going to the police to tell them the story and why he ran off.
The guy has a lot on his plate at the moment, and I was saying to someone else a few days ago that he really isn't worth the bother of hanging about with anymore. Another of my friends who is generally law abiding and quiet has an assault charge for a fight this guy started.
Then this happened.
I've told him to wisen up with his speed in residentials before but he barely listens, I was drunk and needed a lift home. His car is freshly out of the fixers for whatever reason (probably done the same before).
If it was up to me we wouldn't drink with the clown, but someone always invites him "cos he has funny stories". Rolling Eyes

Erm... leaving the scene of an accident, speeding, reckless driving (far over posted limit) and considering he'd only had one drink and crashed at 50, he's an incredibly shit driver.

Irrational as it sounds, people leg it from car accidents all the time, presumably as a bit of an evolutionary response. It's not uncommon for people to leg it from major collisions (whether their fault or not) and then die from their injuries in the woods 200feet away.

Yeah thanks mate, in the 3 days I've had to think about it I never realised he'd have those charges.
As for shit driver, a few of us agree that it's possible he done it on purpose, which gained further credibility when I heard this story from another friend who won't go in his car anymore: (OK, this isn't verbatim, but the facts are unchanged)
"We were driving along the dualer at night, no cars around and he sped up then just suddenly pulled the handbrake and locked up. After snapping out of it on a grass verge, he said he didn't know what just happened, then laughed." And that time he'd allegedly not touched a drink.

Do I think I keep bad company? Yes. Sometimes. Laughing
