Looks friggin AWESOME - apparently the execs at GP are genuinely scared about this race series.

https://www.motogp.com/en/MotoGP+Basics/Moto2

Which is refreshing as fook!

All using the same Honda engine. FAIL
Where is the variety? Yes they can use their own bespoke stuff, but its hardly the pinnacle is it.

Still will be watching with intent tho Thumbs Up

Thats kinda the point Pat.

Theres about 4 different variations of frames I believe.

One tyre type, and one engine type.

Hardly boring engines though - 140hp 140kg bikes entering 5 abreast into a corner at 170mph?

Fuckin' win.

Suspect it will be more entertaining than MotoGP sometimes is - though must admit, a few races last season did give me the chills.

I would of liked a range of engines ala Supersport with protptype swingarms/frames.
That would be befitting of the Moto2 moniker.

They could've saved money by not criss-crossing the world so much.

Still excited by watching a new class, just think they've dumbed it down too much.

Oh and only 1 Brit....Hmm actually this class might be just the thing for future Brits to excel in.

Should be most interesting. Also good to see a few of the small UK engineering firms making frames too. Thumbs Up

I'm surprised Harris haven't done a frame to be fair.

They have, apparently only two? Read it in PB, they had an article on it.

(Unless I've read incorrectly, of course)

Fair, I may well be wrong. Just didn't see a mention, but I don't read PB. Wink

Did I read this right? Antonio Banderas is launching his own Moto2 team:

Prefer to see 90hp/90kg bikes than 140hp/140kg.

I’m sure they could lower the weight limit more very easily, but presume it’s cost issues they’re considering too keep it high.

Yeah, the way I read it G is to keep costs down. Making the frames so lightweight etc cant be particularly effective when they're getting trashed fair few times a season.

I'm just going off what I've read, I dont know too many specifics.

And 90hp, 90kgs was obviously the 250's - unfortunately what this is replacing. *shrugs* I dont know why it was chosen to be replaced - coudl the emissions have been that bad? Neutral

I'm excited about it Embarassed

Obviously it could turn out to be Thumbs Down and I'll be hugely disappointed!

And yes, Harris have 2 frames and Antonio Banderas has a team Laughing

Moto2 will probably be the best race on tonight, I'm looking forward to it. I've also just realised that we have yet another season of being unable to watch the MotoGP race live on eurosport, due to contractual bullshit. This despite the fact that the BBC don't seem to be bothering to show it live either. Rolling Eyes

Edit: Oh no wait, they're hiding it on BBC3. Hmm. Watch it live with commentary from Dull and Not Half As Funny As He Thinks He Is, or wait til 10pm for Eurosport. Thinking

Maybe my red button is broken but the only thing I'm getting is a 'sports news loop' and some golf.
What a load of crap the bbc is.

Was going to watch it on Eurosport anyway, but how can they advertise something for about 6 months then just fail to show it. And we're forced to pay for this useless channel.

125cc race is on now live on Eurosport. MotoGP stuff starts at 830 on BBC3.

Ah right sorry, thought you meant the GP itself. Doesn't surprise me that they've ditched the coverage really - they only ever really pay lip service to MotoGP.

Cracking 125 race here. Shocked Thumbs Up

Moto 2 should be on in a bit.

That's what I really want to see.

Anyone else think Elias is a seriously underrated rider?

Anyone who goes round corners like this deserves a fair bit of respect.

He's gotta be the favourite for the win judging by the sessions so far.

Great 125 race Smile

I agree I've alway been a big Elias fan, he's a bit inconsistent, but he is as fast as anybody on his day, awesome off the bike riding style as well Cool
Shame he has had to start the season injured.

Can't wait for Moto2 now Laughing

Moto 2, awesome race. Unexpected winner. Looks like the new class to watch. Personally I'm a little gutted about Elias coming fourth, but it's still a good ride. I'm also impressed Clusell didn't crash. Laughing

45 minutes until Moto GP now. Crying or Very sad

Definitely a promising start, to say the least. By the sound of it Elias' injury and his weird choice of a soft tyre meant he was unlikely to finish as well as he qualified, but all the same it was a good performance.

I have my suspicions that the best races of the day will be the 125s, Moto2 and then MotoGP coming in last. I guess we'll find out soon enough. Actually, I won't, cause I'm going to wait for Eurosport to show it later.
