Along with my mid-life crisis, apparently, according to friends. Ho hum.
It's time to get onto a bike again. I'm 36, and haven't ridden since 19, but have great memories of hooning around on an RD125 for a couple of years that a mate and I co-owned. So, it's time to get the DAS sorted and done, and get myself onto something more... refined. Besides, commuting into London on trains SUCKS and I hate conforming to the timetables of others.
So, what's the craic then? I have 2/3 grand for something 600-sized. Assume I have forgotten everything I ever knew about bikes (not difficult) and I want something to get to & from work, and maybe have a little fun at the weekends.
Simple question: CBR6, Fazer 600, or SV650S? I can afford the newer, fuel-injected versions of each (ok, for the CBR, only just!), I want something mainly for commuting, and I'm just over 6 foot. So they all fit. What d'ya think? ____________________ Ahhh, cock. There goes more money... |

CBR 6
Fazer Probably a
SV650
I hate SV's. Boring as anything. Just plain hate them.
Looked into any other bikes?
Hornets are pretty good apart from the fuel range... But otherwise very very good. But then again I am biased. They use an older CBR6 engine.
Oh and they're better looking than the rest you mentioned ____________________ '99 Hornet 600 , VFR 400 NC30 '92 , Kasawamasaki GT 550 , '98 Hornet 600

My personal choice would be the CBR, but mainly because I've always wanted one, and never had quite enough budget to get the exact one that I wanted.
I've heard good things about the Fazers too
but my current ride is a naked Bandit6 that I use for daily commuting. Cheap to run, easy to maintain, reliable etc etc ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N

Because you only gave me two to choose from, and I have never owned or ridden a CBR...I will opt for the other. Clanger sits back and awaits BLUE and his anti-sv stance...he has a major thing about hating them see... he hates with so much venom and distaste it's quite amusing. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

No to the SV for your height, I'm 6ft2 and it totally killed my wrists for commuting. Everyone suggested risers/naked SV bars but TBH you shouldn't have to go taking it apart as soon as you get it.
I'm not the only one either, a mod on Parker's had an SV (and is 5ft8) and also traded in the SV due to the wristache caused by the riding position.
