Before i cleared my history i didn't have to write the entire web link in the URL, i could just write 'gametrailers' & it'd go through to the site, now it's taking me to This Virgin Media Page. Any ideas?

Cheers.

Could it be something to do with your default search engine being virgin rather than google?

I use firefox and as you say if i type "bikechatforums" in the address bar it just brings up BCF...

I can only see one option to change the search engine & that's in the mini URL in the top left which is already set to Google, been through the options but can't see nothing about search engines.

Thumbs Up

It's a Virgin Media broadband thing, nothing to do with your browser.

If you type something into the URL bar that isn't a valid URL, most modern browsers pass it to the default search engine and take you to the first result, instead of the old "Cannot display this page" you used to get.

Virgin are trying to be "helpful" and catch the error before it gets back to your browser and take you to their seach page. So they can advertise at you.

I think you can switch this behaviour off, but you'll need to ask Virgin - try reading the help on the page you're taken to.
