Going to The Ace Cafe, but where to go afterwards?

I have a day out allowance coming up and plan to go up to the ace as I have never been before. As I am Sahf of the river, I have no idea of where would be good to head off to afterwards.

Anyone have any suggestions as to good routes / places to go from North London? Bearing in mind I would prefer not to head further north as I have heard thar be dragons up thar, so out to the sides would suit best.

Only place I know of is Box Hill but that's south of London anyway.

All I can recommend is get out of London as quick as possible as it's just full of 30-40mph limits, speed cameras and pants drivers.

Yeah, Box Hill is my bread and butter as I live close by.

It doesn't have to be a bike related destination, just nice and a pleasant ride. Looking at a map, I'm sort of drawn towards Windsor direction....?

There are some nice roads around the windsor way. Through windsor park is quite nice and theres loads of nice country lanes around the bagshot- ascot area. Niceposh totty too

Yeah, I took into account what Gee said and looked at maybe dropping down to Richmond for a sparkling beverage and then maybe hookind down and round , Staines/Chertsey way, to Windsor.

Would be good to maybe have a couple of nice stop off points, I get quite saddle sore on my hog.

High beech is also a good spot for bikers particularly if the weather's good. If the weather is good though it tends to get packed very quickly.

From the ace get on the north circ for a little bit to hanger lane, then follow the A40 out to Uxbridge/Denham roundabout and get on the A413 heading out towards Amersham/Aylesbury, wicked fast road, go as far as Bicester/Oxford ish if your up for it...

Although the ace food aint great try the cheese+chips/chilli+chips, i think its nice

I can highly recommend roads near Aylesbury/Amersham and Oxford/bicester.


It's my playground as I live 30 minutes away from all those places.

About 40 minutes or so from Ace cafe to Wycombe (which is a shit hole) but you can get good connections to all places above.

Doesn't look that great. IT's an ok road, with a few roundabouts but not amazing.

Fantastic road, you got a nice hill, dual going up, single going down (a la Boxhill to bury hill, though not quite as good) good mid paced b road, treacherous at points, enter thame to a fantastic B road.

Also, the route from High Wycombe to Aylesbury in itself (going through Princes Risborough) is pretty fucking awesome. It's a "50" but I can take every single corner at 90 in the wet. Used to be my daily route to work and since I was a bartender it was always empty. Some nice corners and good road surface too. apart from one small section which is a bit bumpy. No hairy moments though. Ever.

Used to blast through Windsor great park and up and down the A30 with Korn a few years ago and always well after midnight, which is by far the best way to do it.

I drive that area all day during the week, and while the scenery is pleasant there are too many morons clogging it up.

Another vote for somewhere NW of Watford. The chiltern hills basically, bucks county.

Draw a line west from Dunstable until it intersects the M40, anywhere inside this box bordered by the other motorways M1, M25 you can't really go far wrong.

The best roads take some seeking out though.

Aye, there's some fantastic routes around the Herts/Beds/Bucks Chilterns - just be aware of the road surfaces, there's some absolutely fucking mammoth potholes sprung up around here in the last few months.
