whats ur guys advice on this one? ...

am looking for a replacement supermoto - i like 2 strokes so was lookin at buying a really clean 1998 crm250 thats for sale just now and sticking on a set of supermoto wheels on it ...

or for about £1k more get a 2007 husqvarna te610 supermoto? ... iv had a 610 before and really liked it ...

is the crm less vibey? ... they both put out similar bhp ... give or take 10bhp ish ... but the crm is lighter ...

my riding is all suburban street riding with the odd blast into the countryside ... i do about 2000 miles a year.

dont know what route to go - if money and garage space was no object, id have both! -)

If you want extra stupidly quick steering lightness, the CRM is the one to go for. However, the Husky will be better suited to getting A to B on the road and general road use.
Despite the figures, I'd be willing to be the Husky feels like it's got a lot more power.

If your use is going to be lots of local tight backroads, I'd go for the CRM.
I've still got it 'in the plans' to get my 200 road registered and stick some 17" wheels on it - at 103kg no-fuel weight it should be interesting!

not brave enough for the cr500 ... but nice idea ... what appeals about the crm250 is its lightness ...

does the crm 250 need a lot of revs to get to the torque? ... iv never ridden one.

i know the te610 - an i like the low down grunt/pull - makes it quick off the mark at the lights - an i like that bit about it!

is the crm250 also quick off the mark without having to give it lots of revs and slipping the clutch?

guess i need to test ride a crm250 so i can decide!

The CRm250 has got a half decent 'enduro' 2 stroke style engine with a decently flat power delivery and a reasonable amount of low down power/torque.
However, due to the lightness and 'feel' of the engine, it can often seem a bit different - a 300cc 2 stroke enduro bike has more low down go than 450cc 4 stroke does, yet it doesn't always feel like that, despite the fact it's the 2 stroke with it's front wheel in the air!

CRM CRM CRM!

I love mine!

But i suppose the bad points are:

70 miles to tank, roughly a tenner to fill
Litre of TTS used every 200 miles at 9 quid a litre (halfords trade)
Hard to keep a constant throttle around town at low revs

But then theres the good points!

Looks sweet!
Goes like stink!
Sounds imense!
Reliable as hell with long service intervals!
Cheaper to rebuild if something goes wrong!

hey delvey ... whats the difference u reckon in performance between the crm250 and the dt220sm (esp at lower end of the rev range - like when pulling away)

the husky 610 went for more than i cud afford Crying or Very sad - so between the crm an the dt now! Shocked

Depends which CRM you go for, If you want bottom end then get a AR version as they have some fancy ignition timing which gives you 4 stroke like riding at low RPM's I can pull away with barely any throttle on mine and pootle along all day. Or use it like a proper 2t and slip the clutch like mad pulling away at 8k revs, whatever you want.

Do you mean a dt230 lanza? if so i dont have much experience with them but i geuss they are down on power to the crm and are built as smaller bikes at the start, dont they use the 125 bottom end!?

yeah ... sorry dunno where i got 220 from! ... yup dt230 lanza is the other bike im interested in. but dont know much about it an how it compares to a crm250 but it does bother me a bit that its 20cc down almost 10% on an already small capacity engine.

when you say AR version (sounds like thats what i need if i went the crm route) ... is that avail on the mk III crm (latest models?)? or is it only on the earlier gen bikes ... as u can tell, im no expert on them so tryin to get a bit of background on the bikes before jumping in an buying one!

appreciate yr help btw!-)

The AR was made 97-99 and is the newest model, MK 3 was made 94-96 i think, I would avoid the earlier models unless you find a very clean on as they are slightly down on power and not as fuel efficent

I saw this on enduro news, seems a good deal:
Honda CRM250AR. 1996.Fairly good std. condition. New pads front and rear. 12 months MOT. No tax. £825. Cheshire. 0161 480 0778. Ask for Eric.

Oh and many 2 strokes have loads of low down power - often more than similar 4 strokes that need to rev higher to make their power. Enduro and trials 2 strokes are often good examples of this.
