Hi,

How easy is it to change the throttle cable on a GSF600S Bandit (Year of reg 2000). The cable on mine snapped the other night, and its going to be a real hassle to get it to a bona fide mechanic; so I am up for attempting to change it myself. It would appear that only one has snapped. How do I identify which one it is? ie the 'push' or 'pull' cable?

Many thanks in anticipation,

AC

If the pull one has snapped the throttle won't open, else it's the push one and the throttle should still work. Take the cable ends out of the switchgear and part of the broken cable will come out of its sleeving.

You'll need to take the tank off, then tie the new cable to the front end of the old one and pull it through to make sure it's routed the same way. I'd fit the carb end first as this is more fiddly, be patient and use a tool to wedge the throttle mechanism in a position you want it. Then it's just a case of fiddling the old cable end out and the new one in.
