Guess bloody what. It's been nicked, again! (Honda CG125 05)

So~ After investing in several locks, my motorcycle has been stolen again. Awesome.

It's a red Honda CG 125, 2005 model. It's missing a left rear view mirror and as a slight bump on the sight of the tank where it had been dropped by a previous thief.

The reg plate is BF05 UWO. Unfortunately I cannot offer any kind of reward, other than I will do my best to give those responsible for stealing it a good kicking. Or attempt to.

This is the third time I've had a motorcycle stolen from me, in the Scarborough area, and I've taken all the measures that I could possibly take.

I'd just like to say if anyone has any ideas on what I should do that'd be great. I've phoned all the local motorcycle shops within a 50 mile radius, however most are closed today. I've reported it to the police and I've now ranted at you guys.

If I get another motorcycle I'm going to install CCTV above my parking space, grab an air rifle and a motion sensor so if some bastard tries again I can atleast give them a good scare...

Anyway.

Hopefully it'll turn up unharmed so I can not bother with the hell that is an insurance companies phone line....

Aye I didn't think they were someone's wet dream but apparently so. They do hold their value though and this one was well looked after :/

It could quite well be someone I know, one of the thieves who took it last time new me personally, although I didn't know him.

125s in general are popular though as you only need L plates and a CBT to ride them.

Don't i remember you mentioning you kicked the thief you sort of knew in the chest last time? (and obviously haven't secured the bike down properly since).

Methinks he could've recruited his scabby mates...

You're probably aware by now, but i feel i must repeat, the only way it's even semi-safe is if it's chained (with a decent chain) to an immovable object, a bike like the CG can be physically lifted and carted off by 3 of even the weakest scumbags of society.

I had my CG stolen 3 days before Christmas a couple years ago, but it was dumped halfway down the street when the thieves couldn't be arsed to keep lifting it because they couldn't smash the steering lock. That steering lock saved my bike!! Also a dent in the tank and mirror missing, but i found the mirror. I (now) make sure the rear wheel is ground anchored and the front wheel chained.

Sorry to hear about your CG, hope you find it soon.

I'd take sulphuric acid to anyone who nicked any of my bikes, particularly the RXS. It did get nicked in 1992 but the subhuman pond life scum couldn't get it started and left it just along the road. Fortunately I never found out who took it or I'd probably have done something I later regretted.

Having one bike stolen would piss me off but having three stolen is really bad luck.I guess you leave it outside? no chance you can keep it inside or build a shed? I go to the trouble of pushing mine inside the house,so sad you can't leave anything nice outside anymore.

thats harsh mate! i always worry about leaving my bike. Its an XR so the wrong kind of people seem to take a liking to it. I chain it to something. use a disc lock and use the built in like!

bikes to tend to get nicked a lot more then cars!

But fuck the council, park it on the pavement as long as it's not causing an obstruction and they can do fuck all. Also aren't lampposts quite close to the road so just park it near a lamppost?

They're also easy to steal (poor steering lock and no electronic security for a start) and many owners fail to protect them properly (i believe that originally the OP did just this, which is how it all started).

Obviously chains and/or alarms (even if the bike isn't locked to something) are usually enough, but as i said earlier, i think Askura has probably pissed off the wrong people, which means that his "opportunist-resistant" security was no longer enough.

TBH mate, i think you're only real option to end this nasty turn of events, is to move (and carefully think about bike security when you do move. I've literally forced 3 other uni mates to choose a "bike friendly" house for us for next year, because i'm worried about ending up in precisely the sort of fix it sounds like you've fallen into).

Well I'd move if I could afford to. (Rent is £40 a week for a single bedroom flat, 3 rooms, and furnished) It's cheaper than my other options. I'm going to do what someone suggested here and start parking on the pavement and securing my bike to anything fixed.

Maybe a good plan would be to get an old honda CB 250 or something that isn't learner legal. Something tatty that no bugger will want. It's a shame that bike theft is so common.

Well oh well. It's been found, stripped of everything but the engine surprisingly. It runs, but no wheels/brakes/lights/seat it's rather pointless. I'll find out soon what the insurance company will do now...

To be fair, if I were offered some new CG wheels I would probably take them. It would be useful to have another set (with off road tires on them!)

Well well well...several months later I get a call from the police. "PC etc etc" and I'm worrying about what I've done recently that may have gotten their attention...to be told "We've arrested 3 people in conjunction with the theft of your motorcycle"

I've had a compensation form sent through, and that if taken to court I may actually receive something. I'm thinking of finally getting my full license sorted out and picking up a Bandit as I've always liked the look and feel of them. So when that is all said and done maybe I can become a real biker!
