yep, thats it, i've had my first crash
No damage really, to be honest it probably isn't classed as a crash, more a minor collision. But non-theless it shook me up a little bit.
I went out for a little ride as its a nice day, even though i've still got this annoying noise on the bike i didn't want to stay in while the weather was this good, so i was taking it easy.
Came out of a 50mph zone ( I would only have been doing about 40 in that zone) Zone changes to a 30, when i come to a mini roundabout. I indicate right and get half way round when This fella and his wife in a people carrier coming the opposite way just didn't give way. Cue me going into the side of them!
Luckily he didn't just drive off and we went into a car park on the corner to asses damage and so i could shout down his ear for a few mins!
Damage;
To me/bike- None, Front wheel could be a bit out of shape but not overly sure at this point, seemed ok on the ride back. Was worried about the forks at the time.
His car- Massive dent in the wheel arch
Seems like he was worse off but he didn't want to bother the insurance, As this is my first mishap i rang my mum (No jokes please ) And we got his details etc. so if there does turn out to be a problem at least i've got his details. I just dont want him claiming off me if i decide not to make a claim!
Paint picture, not my best art work but i feel it gets the point accross.
Ride safe guys!

Glad you're ok mate could have been a lot worse. ____________________ will never give up his CG. I look at my fuel gauge more as a progress bar than a fuel gauge.
G: With my GSXR I do often effectively use it as a scooter with a clutch in town.
ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston? |

Maybe they could just be moderately boiled until they agreed never to drive again, then set free without actually dying ____________________ The RXS100: vehicle of choice for Chuck Norris |

Why let them make the choice never to drive again? I say burn them so much that they won't die but also will never be able to drive, or infact do anything for the rest of their lives. I admire the attention to detail from us in the BCF community though
Also, my uncle popped round before and suggested letting my insurance know just incase this guy decides to claim, so I shall be doing that first thing tomorrow
Cheers guys |

nice to hear you where alright, it will change your riding from now on, for the better. like has been said always thinking the worst can save you alot of pain and even your life.
i had a peugeot scooter at 16, not a care in the world. quiet road doing 30/35 ish. some bloke comes accross my lane, old lad he was, didnt see me at all knocked me clean off, 2 operations a broken wrist broken thumb and unable to walk for two weeks with bad ligament damage to my left knee and right ankle. i have riden differently ever since. i too am sure it has helped me avoid scrapes, that and the 15k compensation any way! silly old git carried on driving even after he clunked me. my mates ran after him and pulled him up on it didnt know what was happening. they reakon he was drunk, the police when they visited me said they didnt breathalise him and believed him to be simply in shock. balls, he didnt even know hed hit me, anyway. thats beside the point. unfortunatly its up to us bikers to (as has been said) drive for the silly pricks in the cars who dont and wont take that split second longer to look before being complete arses. |

Same thing happened to me, except I managed to stop less than a foot away from her drivers side door.
Thing about it is, if she carried on, I may have been able to get past fine, just an exchange of , but instead, when she realised she had pulled out on me, she must have panicked and stopped dead in the middle of the roundabout in front of me. Shrugged her shoulders and said sorry. Looking back I should have driven straight into her and claimed for my fairings on her insurance. |

The first thing I did after my first crash (after defiantly removing my helmet and throwing it to the ground as if what had happened was entirely not my fault) was remove the silly amounts of grass and dirt stuck in various places, tape my headlight and clocks back in place, get the engine going, ride slowly to the nearest village, rest in the pub and then ride the final two hours home in the dark with very bent handle bars. For coming off of a dual carriage way at some speed it could have been a lot worse ____________________ will never give up his CG. I look at my fuel gauge more as a progress bar than a fuel gauge.
