breaking into pro racing

ha dont know how fast i am as i havnt even got on a bike yet lol. i was just watching the racing today and thought. wow i would love to do that for a living. thanks for the replies

Yes it is possible. However do you even really understand the life you are dreaming of?
Definitely working up to the 'celebrity' (and that's what people getting big bucks are getting paid for basically) status it's probably not what you would imagine.

For a start, I think you have to be that say 1 in 1000 at least with the appropriate natural talent/physical ability to do well enough to get to that level. 1 in 1000 isn't that bad a ratio considering the number of people in the (also the likely hood of dieing from club racing as it goes, too).
Then you're going to have to have access to a lot of spare time/money to put in or be more like say 1 in 1m or more to be so naturally talented that you have the right 'feel' that you can just make bikes work for you - most people like this have been around bikes all their lives, but you do see a very few that manage to start late and still do it very well.

Even with massive amounts of natural talent, you've got to expect to be funded to the tune of probably £50k+; for those not so, seen plenty of people spend well over £40k per year to run a top-flight club racing team. Even in BSB, very few are actually getting paid as far as I know - near the sharp end people may be getting free or subsidised rides, but even the time off normal work and social life is going to take it's toll.
