Hey all, aint posted for a while but i finally got myself a bike anyway long story short i need some good quality gear but don't have a big budget say £150

Any recommendations ie ebay?

Is that budget for boots, jacket, trousers, gloves and lid? If so good luck and don't buy a second hand lid!

I got my gloves for about £15 when lidl was doing a deal, but I don't recommend them even if your local store still have some on the shelves, the lining keeps coming out of the fingers...

My lid is a Box BX1 which I picked after trying on a bunch of different brands in my local gear shop and despite being a relatively cheap model I found it was most comfortable for my particular head. I'd try one on before buying obviously but you can get them for £40.

I was lucky enough to have my mum buy me a two piece frank thomas suit after she'd finish freaking out that I'd got a bike They're really not budget gear but I certainly recommend them. Shame the trousers ride up and don't completely cover my ankles when I'm on my little RXS (I'm 6ft1).

What size are you?, I've got a textile jacket with armour, gloves, leather trousers and jacket which I was going to boot sale just to get rid of if they fit I can work out something for you cheap as chips to help out.

You're not going to get good quality gear for £150 unless you get lucky on ebay.

lots of cheap gear to be had there.

when we got my m8 kitted out he's a bit short on cash so took a trip down there and walked out with FULL kit including helmet for under £400 (helmet was near £200.. shark one i think)

My average summer load out;

Nitro - £30 from the Training school I got licenced at
(after 4 years it still fits good which is the single most important thing in a helmet)
Leather jacket - £20 from a bloke at my local mechanics
(Not as good as my old Rhino, but acceptable)
Draggin Jeans Combats - £65 from eBay
(Included the knee pads)
Touring Boots - £10 from the Hein Gericke tent at the BMF
(5 years! May need replacing soon though)
Summer Gloves - £15 from a local Bike Gear shop
Body armour - £45 from Rock and Blues

I recently replaced my lid (£30 same shell as the nitro, good fit), have winter gloves £40, more bike jeans with inserts £60, Waterproofs with padding £25...

I've had a couple of other lids £20 and £25 respectively and my rhino leather £10 (slight stitching fault, lasted 8 years and several offs). Worst buy? Pair of boots that fell apart in one season, but ofr a tenner I aint going to cry.

loads of good second hand stuff on ebay, people sell stuff cheap because its no longer fashionable and they have bought something better, not because its bad quality

I think the cheaper range clothing on getgeared.co.uk is worth looking at.I've just managed to get myself nice new kit for £240 for the lid, kevlar jeans and knee protectors,waterproof over trousers,boots and googles. My triumph jacket came with the bike for only £20 so didn't need to worry about that.

If you go into a dealer (a well reputed one, I know the guy who does the gear at my local dealer is awesome) and tell them look I have £150 and I need some gear that will protect me and doesn't look totally stupid.. can you help?

I did this with £300 and I got the works.. a helmet, textile jacket and trousers, boots and gloves, and most of it was pretty good too! They'll give you discounts if you go to the right place, and lower prices of separate items to get them within budget for you.
