need more traffic police ?(long ramblings)

me and little brother went out on sunday.
we are both old gits on ordinary(naked) bikes.
after the glorious follies of youth we both ride in a mostly sensible fashion.
we went into derbyshire,cheshire,staffordshire and into powys.
we didnt use any of the "popular"trap the biker routes.
in a 4 hour ride we saw 30ish police vehicles(mostly hidden behind hedges or up farm tracks)+a few normal speed gun chimps.
it must be a good time to be traffic police if you get overtime.
i went over cat and fiddle mid week on a damp evening and even though they have the all new cameras there were 2 police bikes and at least the one unmarked car i saw.
so the question is................
does this actually make money or save lives?

Yes.

More seriously I'd rather have a traffic cop who could pull up someone driving dangerously/drunk/badly than a traffic camera that can't.

Plus a traffic cop could always give you the benefit of the doubt and a good talking to rather than a ticket.

That said, traffic cop who stopped me once was under orders from his superiors to issue tickets rather than use his judgment and discretion (I paraphrase but that was the gist of his comment).

Also traffic cops that use cars are a weird bunch, the regular cops don't even understand them.
