cheap ways to get microsoft office??

hi

well with some advice from the guys on here i recently purchaced my first laptop!

an asus x5dij which is fine apart from the dick drive not opening but is being sent back.

but after buying the laptop it does not come with word excel powerpoint??is this normal all i got preloaded was a 60 day trial??
after forking out 400 quid i cant even write a letter??

on my old cheap laptop a friend gave me a office disc that loaded it all up but it seems the codes have been used too many times??

any ideas on how to get hold of this with out paying 400 quid??

Another vote for open office,

There is also Star office which is signifcantly cheaper that I use to write things in Chinese, the open office typing method for this I don't like at all.

I'm not sure if this still applies but you might be able to get a student discount (i.e. get a student friend to buy it with a discount). I did this for my older brother a few years ago as he needed a legit copy.

I found Open Office to be a bag of shite to be honest. Purely because it wouldn't open my word documents. No other reason.

I was on Vista then though. Maybe it was Vistas fault.
