I noticed a few weeks ago that my oil had started to get low. I don’t check it very often because it’s never used any throughout my ownership. That should have been enough to ring alarm bells.
Anyway I kept it topped up and finally got around to an oil change today. Took off the right hand panel to give access to the drain plug and oil filter and saw this:

Just next to where the R&G attaches to the upper engine mount it seemed to be all damp with oil. Looking from below it can only be coming from the head gasket right?

Bum, willy, tit, wank!
What do you reckon it would cost to get that sorted at a dealer workshop? I just don’t have the time and inclination for such an involved job…
…although it would be a good opportunity to examine the internals. There’re a few odd knocking noises that I’d like answers to. A dealer will no doubt have more experience, skills and tools than me, but I have one huge advantage. I give a fuck. This seems to be the main flaw in all dealer workshops.
Doesn’t look like much oil, but I suppose some could be leaking into the cylinder and getting burnt off.
So is my guess right? Is the gasket? Do I try and fix it myself of give it to my local dealer and wave goodbye to a stack of cash? Cheers. ____________________ 2016 CBF1000F - Commuter heaven | 1994 CBR600FR - Awaiting defibrillation |
