All of the reviews I've read suggest that it is THE most uncomfortable bike in the world ever. Apparently the seat is hard and high, the bars are low and a long stretch.

He'd be better off with a ZZR1200 or ZZR1400 I'd say.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

No idea what it'd be like to live with but I took one out when I bought the Blackbird, thinking I might get away with it over distance, but half an hour on it was more than enough for me.

Loved the motor, but it was like a torture device physically.

Eh, is this the same bike that I'm thinking of?! The 12 is pretty comfy for a sportsbike. It's not very low compared to the buss, and with bar risers is all day comfy. I happily did 300 miles a day on mine. The one thing that spoils it as a tourer is the tank range. Normal riding is about 120 miles to the fuel light plus or minus 20 miles depending on hooning or been miserly on the throttle. About 30mpg.

In summary, awesome bike, astonishing engine, far better than the blackbird in terms of entertainment and handling, difficult to work on (36 screws and bolts to get to the battery!) and poor tank range.

Oh and tyres - I got about 5k out of a set of Avon Storms. You can get a lot less out of sports rubber though

They are more comfortable for the rider than the 'busa if the rider is tall/large and the fairing provides better protection. Pillion comfort is a different thing though for that it's very poor.

If he's going without a pillion it'll be fine, but tell him to make sure he fits a new rear tyre before he sets off on his tour Wink

The guys with 'busas will be getting bad leg cramps after an hour or two, if they are taller than Ronnie Corbett Very Happy

well ive had a 12r for a year and there a fantastic bike comfy and fast lol haw fast do you wanna go mr.

as for that one its got comfort kit handle bars instead of clip ons plus the footpegs are lowered so its going to be all day comfy.

as for the akro i think it will be plenty loud enough for touring Thumbs Up

he will love the bike only thing id do is get shut of the comfort things as it will lose its feel especially them bars Thumbs Down

tried them on my blackbird and it was awful and ruined the feel.

but he may like them so only time will tell Very Happy

and that is a well sorted 12r by the way Thumbs Up

Nice bikes, too much power for the road for me though. I prefer to give a smaller bike death.

(How often do people sell a zx12r and buy a zxr400 as that's what I'm doing! Laughing )
