PostPosted: 15:44 - 19 Apr 2010    Post subject: Beware - Car Door Reply with quote

Just went for a small ride today, had my little £8 keychain camera running on my master cylinder (velcro'd on). a small extract of cager silliness:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPcw9cz0cZo

this could have been a nasty one for me and him i think! literally missed the door by a few inches at he flung it open.

please excuse poor quality and messed up pixellation at the beginning. iMovie is utter shite (cba for setting up scratchdisks in FCP) and im borrowing neighbours internet lol

at the end the small font says "always look before opening a door - no bikers were hurt in the making of this production!"

They should of looked but you was also very close to the Corsa & seemed to cut the corner a bit.

Still, luckily you're in one piece & nice one getting it on cam. Thumbs Up

Maybe he put that annotation because he already knew the Corsa door was going to fling open when he uploaded the video to YouTube Wink

yeah the cam makes things appear closer, and its a one way round so cant really cut across the opposite lane as its a single lane lol. the way its mounted on the master cylinder sometimes makes it seems like the bike isnt turning when it is if that makes sense!?!

lol yeah obviously, they pulled over without indicating properly but flinging open the passenger door into oncoming traffic is just stupid especially as they are on the blindside. shoulda seen his face when i beeped him Laughing

I know someone who had this happen to recently and wasn't so lucky. He was filtering between two lanes of completely stationary trafic which were queuing for some busy traffic lights, doing about 5mph, when a guy threw his door open to gob on the road. He hit the end of the door, and the opening motion pushed him onto a Lexus so that got a big dent in the wing too. Bike's a write-off.

I don't understand how people manage to press there horn so quickly!
I can't ever remember where mine is and have to look down at the bars to press it, by this time the situation would have passed and its too late. Hence why I never use it.

As for the horns,

https://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_170455_langId_-1_categoryId_165704

Fitted one to mine, absolutely awesome sound. Almost as good as the NAUTILUS one off eBay.

Thumbs Up
