Hello all.

Well fed up of automatic scooter junk, iv seen the light and moved on to a motorbike, got a Honda CG 125 to take the full test on.

not clued up on the CG125 but anyone here own one and know if you can buy a screen for them ? just to keep some of the wind off me ?

What prompted the change of hart was a ride of a GSX650F around a abandoned runway for almost 30 mins and loved every min of it, once i got back on the X9 it felt awful.

I think i have taken the correct path?

Thanks

I'm not too knowledgeable about the new fangled tests, but can you take a full test on 125? I thought it had to be 500cc upwards?

Yes, I think you have taken the correct path.

Let me get this straight, you heartily defended scooters and your way of life, it was best for you. You loved it, you enjoy it etc.

Yet you had never even tried the 'other' path which you insisted so furiously was worse?

Well, have fun with your new bike, you may find yourself wanting some more power soon!

I want more power already, just want that test past, got on my mates GSX650 and so easily hits 70mph the CG is slow small and wont go over 65mph.

Makes me wana pass my test even sooner.

Yes i defended scooters, i still like them just wouldn't touch a 125cc scooter, would want a powerful one should i ever own a scooter again.

If test pass i am thinking of a gsx650 like my mate. or failing that a Gilera Gp 800.

but would rather stick to manual bikes for now.

Funny you pop up again today, I got burnt off the line by a scooter Embarassed

It was a Yamaha T-MAX I think they are 500cc, I pulled away about half power just to nip in front and it smashed it past me Laughing

I was impressed next set of lights he still beat me only to about 10mph then I hooned past. It wasn't a brilliant start and I reckon I could beat it off the mark but it would need to be a really good start by me.

the bigger scooter are OK and nippy due to them been light, scooter wise now i would only be interested in burgman 650cc and gilera GP 800cc.

Other than that its Motorbikes for me.

As for the T-max i know there ment to be fast and sporty, but personally don't like the look of them.

Iv seen that the Kawasaki ninja 250 is a good step up after test ?

The CG was definitely the right step up from a scooter! I hope you can pass your test soon and move upwards but you should never write off the CG (or crash it and write it off either Laughing)!

It's a fantastic little bike to tour on even (if you want to) and although you're right when you say it can't really go past 65MPH (for any long period of time) I would say that you really don't need any more than that anyway. All it means is that you get to take lovely A roads, take in all of the scenery and country and goodness and spend a little longer (up to twice the amount of time) getting places Thumbs Up It's all about perspective and riding style really. I love my CG, totally addicted.

You can get a wind screen yes, there should be lots about online / on ebay.

Over priced and under specced, only consider if you've got loads of money to waste.

I have a screen on my cg Very Happy its a blooming expensive one though :O took it off my dads bike.

You need one that fits to the handles bars, not many places do ones that fit to a headlight that small

https://www.bikehps.com/acatalog/Screens_for_Naked_Bikes.html

The one at the top is the one mines got on it.

But i'll get keeping it on all the bikes i own im guessing Very Happy

Doesnt look too bad on it either.

I think Honda have already fitted a system to the CG125 to deal with the issue of wind blast anyway so it's probably not necessary.

I believe this website has the answer to your question - yes you can have a windscreen (the website had information on this late last year anyway and i can't see him having taken the information off).

Really?! How on earth would such a thing work? Some crazy aero on the tank?

I'm 5ft 10in and while yes you do get "blasted" (relative term on a CG!) with wind I've managed without discomfort for many thousands of miles at top speed. You'll be fine mate Thumbs Up
