Stunt advice - thumb brake & cage

Hey All,

FINALLY picking up my CBR600F (99 plate) on saturday. Thought i would post here first as theres not many brit riders on stuntlife.

Has anybody got a stunted CBR or parts? Im after a decent cage and thumb brake??? is there anywhere in the UK that sells them as i can only find US sites and postage is rather dear!

ANY info, guidance or input on the CBR6 in a stunt envoirment would be great, am trying to gather am much info as possible.

If anybody has any bits they want to sell PM me, theres cash waiting!

Demon tweaks sell a thumb brake but its about £400 iirc

£400 .... ouch! id rather order from yank land for that!

yeah i keep searching ebay but nothing comes up. its annoying as getting the bike soon but all the decent bits im going to need take AGES to post

Basically you have two calipers on the rear disc rather than re-locating the rear pedal =)

A few years ago there used to be an ok UK community on stuntlife, don't know about now.

One trick used to be to use a mountain bike brake lever and attach the other end of the cable to the rear brake lever.

Somewhere recently I saw a thumb brake banjo bolt or something that went in to your rear master cylinder and allowed you to easily work with both. May have been a slightly different method, but it was definitely something that allowed you to have dual controls and it still work properly.
Not sure where though, thought it might have been ISR as I was looking at them for the GSXR, but seems not.

Talk to Pez and stunt bike store and he'll sort alot of it out for you.

Is the '99 a carbed model?
You'll still be on the back foot to begin with but it'll be ok to learn on, feel free to get an F4i (fsport) as soon as possible.

You'll want a 16x18 Brembo master cylinder, mounted below your clutch.

Cheers mate, rang Pez a few days ago and hes sorting me out with literally everything i need! what a top bloke, really friendly and explained SO much to me. Learnt more from a one hour phone call than 10hours surfing the web =)

(if you happen to know of anybody in the kent area stunting that would actually be amazing!)

I think the plan is to stick with the carb'ed one for the next few months and look out for a crashed F4i and then dump that engine in, as, acording to Pez the frame etc. is best so with the later engine should be sweet as a nut =)

a 636 went for that sorta dollar recently.

There's nothing around £1000 atm, i think theres an F4i for about 2 grand though?
