I've got quite a collection of large bottles containing small amounts of unused engine oil of various grades, left over from when I've changed to different brands of bike oil, and some from old cars that doesn't suit my diesel (Castrol GTX).

I'm a bit obsessive about oil so I don't want to just chuck it all in the bike, so wondered if anyone had any suggestions/uses for clean engine oil?

All I can think of is:

* Pour it all into one can and use it as chain lube.

* Pour it all into one can and use it in my C90 (supposedly indestructable, designed to cope with developing world levels of maintainance).

* Pour it all into one can, thin it with some diesel and use it as my own F365 anti corrosive fluid (seem to remember reading about this somewhere).

* Take it to the tip.

Any ideas? Smile (apart from forcing someone to drink it, we covered that the other day!)

Mix it and use it as intended, I mixed some 10w40 from castrol, Shell silkolene and a brown bottle brand I forget into my CBR more than once, but lately after 3 oil changes I collected enough unused shell VS04 to not need to buy any.

Seems a waste then though actually, I'm sure it'd be fine running through a c90 for a while, THEN lube your chain with it Laughing

Yes, chain lube in an auto oiler was the best way use up the oil. I used my housemates' g/f leggings for the job and a sieve purely because they were pissing me off! Not my fault she camps at our house without paying any rent - means that her skin will be chafed and her apple crumbles will taste like my hallway!

Or use it for top-ups! If you own a honda, you'll probably get used to the idea that they tend to burn oil!

True, but I didn't want to make it completely NSFW. Trust me, I had to endure pages of filth before finding that one Smile

A particularly mean bloke I used to work with used to filter through a pair of his missus tights his used car engine oil and bung it into the oil tank of his Honda H100. It ran fine for years but had a pollution problem all it's own, a bit like a WW2 navy ship 'laying down smoke'.

It seems to take all the sexy out of oil wrestling.

You can also use old engine oil (or new in your case) on exposed metal parts to stop them corroding. Put a bit on a rag and wipe over things with the oil. It makes stuff shiny too.

While I applaud Shaggy's suggestion, I reckon using Duckhams Hypergrade as part of the scenario would invite skin cancer where you really don't want skin cancer Sad
