Hi there

I am looking to replace my Caberg V2R after a spill.
I have been looking at the AGV K-4 Vyrus, or the K-3 Gothic black.
Just wondering if any of you have or had either of these helmets, and if they are any good or any input would be helpful

Cheers Sam.

I've had a K3 and it was very good. I paid just over a £100 for it and I'd say it was better in every respect than the £400 Arai that replaced it.

Shockingly poor build quality and finish, Always double check every thing like visor mechanisms and vents.
I used to work for a retailer and we had to send about 1 in 10 back to the importer because they were not good enough to sell.

nixon was that agv in general or the k3 as this is the base model annoyingly my favourite too Neutral

seems there are mixed reviews about them, will head down to my local dealer, try some on and see what I think and have a word with them, might end up buying the caberg again, I did get on nicely with that

I'm honestly very suprised at that. I wore mine for about 25'000 miles (all weather) and I can't think of anything bad to say about it. I'd have no qualms about replacing the Arai with another AGV. I suppose most Italian products can be a bit hit and miss Laughing . My A star leathers were fairly poor quality (made in China though) but still stood up well to a low speed off.

I have the AGV k4 gecko, its a wicked lid, comfy and relatively quiet, I'd recommend them to anyone.

Unfortunately that was across the whole range, including the top models, but saying that the ones that were good didn't seem to come back, so i think it is more of a poor factory finish issue.

Its not something that should put you off buying one, its just something to be wary of especially if you buy online.

Now Caberg on the other hand!! Evil or Very Mad the amount of times i had to fix the bloody sun visors that came from the factory broken!!
AGV is better quality than Caberg without a doubt in my mind.

Try looking at some Shark and HJC, there similar in price and quality too.

never had a problem with the caberg was a tad on the heavy side I thought but felt strong, and held up to a head on into the front wheel of a car, it only scratched and cracked a clip the held one of the vents on.

Have looked at a few hjc's and sharks, couldn't really find anything I liked, but in the end comes down to comfort and fit. Like i said ill head down to my local garage and try a few on in my price range and see what I think

Cheers guys Smile Thumbs Up

In 5 years odd of riding I've had an AGV GP Pro and replaced it with an AGV GP Tech.

Obviously fit is everything and I have an AGV shaped head, but both have been superb. Now obviously these are/were the top of the range but I have nothing but praise for them... Thumbs Up

edit: Being Italian also helps Cool

yeah got to love the Italians (I'm quarter Italian Cool )

Went and tried some on earlier, prefer the K4 fit wise although I'm slightly stuck between medium and large. I think if I get the medium the lining will shape a little so would be perfect fit then.

Couldnt really try them on properly because of the security tags Neutral

Got an AGV K-4 Stealth a few hours ago from Hein Gericke. They're doing 20% off at the moment until the bank holiday Monday.

Seems a decent lid, bit better than the cheaper K series I replaced it with. But at the end of the day, a lid is a lid. I still can't fathom why some people...rather....how some people can part with 500 notes for a friggin lid.

yeah don't think I'd ever go over 200 for a helmet, its just getting into stupid money then.

£169.99 * 0.8 Thumbs Up

Although I bought an Arlen Ness Jacket, alpinestars gloves and a scottoiler at the same time...came to about £680 before the discount. But cannae argue with a £136 discount. Got it over 9 months 0% too.

Doubt you can order online and get the discount. Very much doubt it.

Just realised I have a few photos of my GP Tech, I hope they show up the quality of the lid and the plushness of the lining...

Seems to be a few good deals around for the Tech 7 atm also... Thumbs Up

I think I've managed to talk to my dad and get him to take me to the local (well Luton from Cambridge) Heine Gericke. Would ride there but got a 10 mile limit on the hire bike. Going to get a pair of gloves too, and maybe some new boots, i love discounts Very Happy

Dodger looks a good lid, i like the lining Thumbs Up
