I have two brands:

Harley = FAG
Ducati = Will always be too expensive

Don't get me wrong I'd love a Ducati, but less money would get you an excellent Jap bike or something like a KTM RC8...

Suzuki, purely because the only bikes I have had major problems with and found to be crap to ride have been Suzuki.

Harley, not my scene too expensive for what they are.

Anything Chinkie

Thats it I think.

Every single one of seemingly dozens of Chinese brands, as they stand they don't seem to offer any reason to buy them at all. As has been said umpteen times in 'New Bikers' they're false economy. Might change in the future of course!

Also I would never buy a CZ. A couple of my mates have experimented with these recently and they're nothing but trouble! I wouldn't mind a communist two stroke though, but of course it would have to be an MZ, if I could find a nice one! Smile

Finally, I can't imagine myself ever owning a Harley. I don't particularly dislike them, but not keen on the image. I've got a vague post lottery win dream of touring American on one though, but I know in the end I'd wimp out and do it on a BMW!

Don't think I'd ever buy a brand-spanker, unless I was completely loaded... It's just like giving money away, and for no real benefit IMO. I could use the money for other things.

Other than that I think most major brands have something that I'd like a go on.

There's no brand of bike I wouldn't sample if the price was right Laughing

I've had three Ducatis - most I paid was £700. OK, this wasn't modern Dukes, but they all had a touch of the magic about them.

Royal Enfield, after working on them and seeing the terrifyingly poor build quality first hand I will never ever pay for one. I think I'd have a hard time being paid to take one even.

Plus they are shite to ride Razz

Hi

Not sure there are any. However nothing HD currently make really appeals (although if I wanted a cruiser then the V Rod would probably be my choice).

All the best

I'm starting to think Japanese 4 post 2003 maybe 2005 bikes, in that the Japanese firms bikes are virtually disposible and require so many special tools as a discouragement for self maintenance it is not funny.

also have no desire to own a harley

I won't buy any Chinese bike.

For cars, I won't buy anything French. Nothing against the French people , I just find that the French have small feet and every time I drive a French car, I end up hitting the accelerator and the brake at the same time.

Poags hole it seems (in the US) - thread from advrider.
https://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=160650
Lots of other hill climb porn on there - dual engined, GSXR engined, supercharhed enduro bikes etc.

Be cool to have a play on one some day, but not the easiest thing to find, especially in this country Sad.

Wouldn't touch;

Arrow Harley (they just arent to my taste and a bit shit).
Arrow Chink (crap build quality, too many bad storys).
Arrow Ducati (theres something about Ducati riders that make them arrogant and the only thing they have in common is the bikes they ride)

To echo most people, anything Chinese. I've had 1st hand experience of Chinese build quality (in the form of a quad bike) and it falls far below anything I'd expect untrained chimpanzees to make. However, I believe the opinion was held about Jap cars/bikes just a few decades ago.

I can't believe so many people are saying Ducati TBH. I've never owned one, but even if they are as bad as people reckon they are, I'd probably still buy one. I think it's something that you take on the chin when you buy it. You know it's gonna be expensive to service, you know the reputation they have for reliability, but they have the heritage and the undoubtable pose factor. They probably ride quite well too Wink .

Dodger on here has an 848, I've read he rides it in all weathers and I've not seen him complain yet Confused . I'd quite like one as a weekend bike one day.

Wouldn't buy another Kwak for the simple fact that the 2 i've had have tried to kill me .

ZX9R - Gear box exploded for no reason at 100+ causing major slapper and me nearly piling it in a field .

ZZR400 - Faulty starter motor caused the engine to seize on a corner at 40mph casuing me to lowside then highside within the space of 3 seconds - result , shattered elbow , 6 broken ribs and nerve damage in my leg .

Sorry to all you Kwak owners who'll sing their praises but there not for me anymore

I couldn't rule anything out as I'm fairly young so who's to say the chinese aren't going to be knocking out superb sportsbikes for peanuts in 30 or 40 years?

That said I'd never want a cruiser so I can probably rule out Harley unless they have a major change in direction.
