I have been looking into getting a 125 4 stroke for under a grand. I have seen many good bikes but I know nothing. I have a post below but that was for general advice about stuff, in here I need names models and makes.

Here is some info about me, 20, have provisional, live in northern ireland so don't need CBT lol (getting lessons though) I am about 5'6 - 5'7 and about 14 - 15 stone so I am a small round guy Smile

I basically need a bike for commuting to and from work but also to sail about on weekends and for basic a to b travel. I would prefer a bike that you can sit pretty upright on instead of leaning forward too much but thats not that important.

Not sure on prices but this was the list of user friendly 125 bikes...sorry you will have to check prices.

Honda XR125
Honda CG125
Yamaha SR125
Suzuki VN125
Yamaha DT125
Suzuki TS125

I've heard a few things about YBR125's as well again no idea about prices.

Don't go chinese...that usually helps if you want something reliable.

Not sure about riding position as i've never ridden one and not sure how far forward you're leaning, but if you want a sporty bike there's the cbr125r but alot of people say this is more show then go so don't expect amazing performance.

Hope this helps.

I will edit with the person who gave me this list of bikes.

EDIT: sanky was the person with that info, also check this thread
https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=195212

for other bits of info as I've been asking similar bike questions.

What are the opinions of Hyosung as a make, I have seen them cheap enough. I have heard warnings about Chinese bikes so what about this Korean maker?

To be honest there are alot more of the more well known bikes available for under a grand so I'd probably stick with them.

I think I might go with a honda. Simply because people can't say enough good things. I am probably gonna get this bike https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Honda-CG125_W0QQitemZ280433574343QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycles?hash=item414b24c1c7

I mean not that exact one but that year and model anyway. Anyone have one, been on one and can say both good and bad things about it. Speed is not problem and I dont expect a 125 to be that fast anyway so anything other than saying it will be slow.
