 |
|
Well, I decided to mount my new small indicators actually on the rear light casing of the GN today.

While I was there I thought I would wire a nice loud buzzer up to the indicator circuit, so people can hear as well as see when I'm indicating. I have seen this feature on quite a few instructor's bikes and it seems like a pretty good safety feature, certainly captures people's attention anyway.
The circuit diagram:

This is of my own design. The two diodes are there so that just one buzzer can be used. If you omit them, both indicators will come on at once.
You need to connect them with the white stripe facing together.
Here's how I did it:

That particular mess of wiring and the buzzer itself hides nicely behind the number plate. The connections are wrapped in tape as insulation as the heatshrink is too small to go over them, don't worry, I haven't just twisted the wires together - I've soldered them
On the right hand side you can see the diodes themselves encased in heatshrink, the other end of them connects to the indicator feeds in parallel with the indicators themselves.
The buzzer is this one: at Maplin. It's plenty loud enough.
Hope this is useful to someone |

Is it loud enough to be heard through a car window by an inattentive cager?
Cheers for the writeup btw |

I had something once with a indi bleeper on it. Superdream maybe. Whatever it was, it completely did my nut in You never forgot to cancel your indicators, but you did get home feeling like taking a hammer to the fucking bike I removed the bleeper, needless to say. ____________________ The RXS100: vehicle of choice for Chuck Norris |

My main thought was that it's a great idea so that you never forget to cancel your indicators... but that it would probably get on your nerves after a while ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N

My KLX had a replacement buzzer type relay, fricking annoying to say the least, never used my indicators though so wasn't as annoying as it could have been.
Does seem, like said, more of a "turn your indicator off you idiot" warning rather than "Look at me, i'm indicating" thing. |
