Right lads and lasses, ive gone and sold my b ikes as im studying at uni and with having the car theyre not getting used whilst im there so i've decided i might as well buy a toy.

I've got a budget of about £4-5000 and heres what i'd like ideally:
A bike that will do 80-90mph with relative ease without ragging the balls of it.

Service intervals comparable to a sports bike

Capable of carrying a pillion every now and again

Proper fun bike. Quick off the mark with plenty of potential for wheelies, stoppies, drifting and the likes.

It will be used mostly on country roads and treks up to hartside pass.

I'd like to stay away from big singles and would prefer a V twin rather than a parralel but anything is considered.

Any ideas in what may fit the bill?

I've been looking at Aprilia dorsoduro's and ducati hypermotards but they seem to be a little beyond my budget...

Ideally i'd like a streetfighter styled sports bike such as a tuono or duc streetfighter, 750 or similar, but i want the power low down which is why i think a supermoto will be more suitable and stop me doing stupid speeds.

Cheers!

GSXR 1000 has lots of low down power Smile, but has lots up top too.

What you're looking at I wouldn't really consider to be a 'supermoto' - just a street bike of some kind.

The 'lunatic' element of supermotos tend to come A) from the lack of power meaning they need to be ragged a bit and B) from the fact ones based on competition bikes weigh very little.

A naked SV650 doesn't really have the spark you may be looking for - but it does tick tick the boxes. Hasn't got a massive amount of low down power, but feels like it does, at least.

Pretty much all proper supermotos are singles. Why don't you want a single cylinder?

The KTM 625 SMC is reliable with 55bhp, loads of low down grunt and I've had 110 out of mine but thats not what they are about. It is a big 625cc single without a balancer shaft so does not give the smoothest ride Laughing You can also get the 660 SMC but it is kick start only, or the 640 SM which is the softer version with a bigger seat, bigger tank and a smaller carb than the SMC bikes.

Here is mine, loads more fun than my 07 ZX6R on the road Thumbs Up

My 690 enduro (same as 690 SMC pretty much) is much smoother I'm led to believe and has a touch more power than the older LC4s.

However it's going to feel a whole lot slower than the bigger bikes when not ragged and isn't as pillion friendly etc.
This sort of bike is about the limit of what I consider a 'supermoto' to be before it becomes just a street bike basically.

cheers lads, i kinda want the supermoto styling with a V twin engine. a sports orientated engine such as a gsxr will lead to my death so im taking steps to try and slow myself down slightly.
