honda nsr 125 PROBLEMS:evil:

ok... its its a mad one bauht this nsr 125 1991 alcast frame rk model decided to de restrict so removed cone from exhaust and inlet restriction then decided to upjet so baught kit said on this forum then also baught a iridium plug to help burn off fuel oh and has a k&n style air filter too just read they are no good? anyway set off on the bike all back 2geter and wont do more than 70 at a push!! bowt 6000 rpm sorta boggs down then gets going and when finally get in2 6th gear just starts to slow down realy doing my head in im thinking overfueling but carnt find old jets anyone know old size and any other help please thanks very much!!

Quite frankly i'd be scared if you could go over 70, you should of "bauht" a pushbike instead.

6th gear is slow on NSR's as standard unless you mess about with the sprockets (cant remember exact combination)

but you should be getting well over 70, any idea if its an import NSR at all

all i can see is that its a jc20 from frame number it does say made in italy but no idea really...

Maybe it's the CDi that's still restricted...? Find out which one you have. And when you have, post it in the Workshop section, not in Bike chat.

If you post these sort of questions in there you're more likely to get a helpful response. Plus BCF NSR guru Alain frequents it and he knows everything there is to know about your bike.

Yeah, nsr stock should happily get to 70 and some...
How did it ride before you tried to derestrict?
It does sound like the bike has further limitations on there, check out where its from and check the sprockets. For the sake of a couple of bucks i'd find the old jets, head over to www.nsr125.co.uk and you'll find the service manual, that will let you know what jet sizes you need and there is plenty of info on there about de-restricting!

My '89 gets my fat arse up to 135+kph.... Tuning a perf. 2-stroke is a bit of an arcane art. I trust a snowmobile mechanic to keep mine tip-top.

hi there my nsr 125 it wount start i gt it going i had a ride on it down the street doing bwt 60 nt flat out tho but giving some good throtle it hasent been riden in 2 years and evri time i pull over it starts to cut out but i put the choke on and it runs for a bit untill i revv and turn choke off but it does also wen i ride to i get up to 3rd or 4th and it does same so i pulled over and turned it off left it to cool down and tryed to start it wants to go but doesnt start any ideas ppl thanks

Aren't the Italian models the ones that are stupidly hard to de restrict? Loads of different restrictions in them and 'practically impossible' to derestrict? Or is that me getting muddled?
