Has anyone taken it out or any sort of medical insurance simply because they ride a motorbike?

The only reason I ask is because I was talking to a friend at work who mentioned that he had taken it out after getting a motorbike because his wife kept screaming at him saying how dangerous it is (i think his wife isn't that keen on him having it anyway..)

Don't think he pays too much a month, but he has something like £250,000 payout if anything were to happen (paralysed or anything like that) which I guess helps with things.

I'd not take out life insurance simply because I ride a bike.

I'd take it out so that dependants are provided for in the event of my death - regardless of how that happened.

My pension scheme gives 4x salary payout if I die so I don't actually bother with life insurance.

Nah, as far as funeral expenses go I'll just leave strict instructions to toss my lifeless corpse into the nearest ditch and leave me to decompose, none of this rip-off funeral bollocks. As quoted from Bottom:

be sure you read the small print.. some policies have exceptions to activities such as rock-climbing and motorcycling..

Regardless if you ride a bike, If you have any dependants, good idea to have something in place as funerals can be expensive ...

insurance - a form of gambling that you win only when you loose.

The NHS isn't so bad Matt crashed and ended up in ICU for several months, but if it got to a stage wereby my quality of life was seriously impinged then I would rather NOT survive a nasty crash.

This is a regular premium policy and policy term is 10 years. The policy is issued as per the proposal form filled and signed by you. But I am yet to get my money back due to non transfer of the credits, inspire me personally and checking the same with the post office where I was paying the premiums I could not get the same.

I had a phone call not long ago from Barclays offering me insurance. It was £7 pound a month and seemed okay.

If I died there was a big pay out, if I broke an arm I got money, lost an eye or paralysed etc etc.

I then got bored and starting giving him scenarios. If I was drunk and fell of a bridge onto the railway lines and broke my leg would you pay out. He said yeah alcohol is legal so there for alcohol related incidents would be paid out. He then added if I was on drugs or jumped on purpose I wouldn't get anything.

I carried on like this asking stupid questions like what If I fell over and landed on my face and poked my self in the eye. I break my finger and blind myself at the same time. He then said I would get payment for being blind in one eye and payment for breaking my finger because it's an accident.

At this point I was thinking this is quite good actually and I might in the future take this up. I then mentioned I rode motorbikes at this point he went oooooooooooooooo. He said that because I ride a bike I am putting myself into harms way so all the payments would be halfed.

I asked if the same goes for cars because your putting yourself into harms way there, you could crash at any minute. He said no it's just bikes.

I didn't take his offer but I think I might in the future it seemed okay. It was like 1500 for a broken leg, I would break it with a hammer on purpose for that.

That sucks. Are motorcyclists more likely to injure themselves when they're drunk? Confused
