At Portland - not been for a while, we started off over the western side but where it had rained the night/day before, and the sun hadn't made it round yet, it was too wet to climb (it was also bitterly cold over there). So we went to 'the cuttings' (on the eastern side) https://www.rockfax.com/databases/results_crag.html?id=62

I know there are a few that like a spot of climbing, so bound to be people that have done indoors, but anyone else been outdoors climbing recently - was a lovely day for it today? Thumbs Up

I was out in Clwyd yesterday at Worlds end doing some trad limestone, really nice weather and a good day. Pics are on a mates camera at the moment

I've only been down to Portland and climbed in the cuttings once but it was enjoyable.

As you requested; here are some pics from previous trips into the Peak:

Fingers crossed for a good summer, I have climbing plans!

Kool! Cool

That second one looks like it would topple off the top there Shocked (it obviously wouldn't but it does look a bit like that Wink).

I actually went to Portland again today (different area this time) ... I have some pics I'll sort through and will write a ditty about it in a bit!! Smile

Went to Portland again today, this time to Blacknor (western side), did some in North, Central and South areas of Blacknor. Thumbs Up

A lot of the pathway down there has fallen away over winter and to be honest, it is pretty treacherous down there at the mo ... I'd say getting between climbs was more dangerous than the climbing today!! Shocked

Anyway, some pics from the day!! Smile

Looks fun but I don't have any of the kit at all and knowing my luck I'd end up killing myself Laughing

Me and a friend have been doing indoor climbing once every two weeks for about 6 months.

I reckon we are ready for outdoor top rope climbing but not lead climbing.

Anyone know any good places near the west midlands ?

Killing yourself is always a possibility if something goes wrong, but then the same applies for when on a bike doesn't it Wink ... it is the 'controlled danger' that makes it fun though right?!!? Cool

I am a size 10 shoe and they are appropriately sized boots to make them nice and 'snug' (i.e. prolly a 9) so if you are 8-10 you should be ok.

I am going Sunday, but it is only a pair of us at the mo, so +1 would make it an odd number - and 3 sux, if there are 5 or 7 then there are enough people about to have a climb as and when you want, but with 3 there is a bit too much waiting ...

In short, wait for another time when we have more going (4+ (or even a 3 and you can make the 4th)) - now I know you are interested, I'll give you a shout whenever that is!! Thumbs Up

But don't count yourself out yet, if someone else in this thread (who has their own harness (and rope)) fancies going this Sunday, then it is even numbers again and we are on!! Thumbs Up

Well, it actually rained last night - typical it has been dry for weeks!! Rolling Eyes

Anyway unperturbed and looking at the forecast, we went anyway!! Cool

Thankfully by the time we got there, it was no longer raining - in fact I don't think it had been raining at Portland for most of the morning as it was drying up well?!? It was however a bit misty and cold at the start.

Where it was wet the night before and the mist, this meant some of the climbing was a bit 'soapy' in places!! Shocked

Still a good day and the sun came out/round by mid afternoon Thumbs Up - here are some pics!! Smile

Come on people ... some other peoples climbing stores plz!!! Confused
