right, so i picked this up last night after driving a total of 14 hours to get it.

my lovely road reg'd 2003 EXC 520

now when i got there, i rode it around a bit, all seemed good apart from a bit of a rattle which is the cam chain tensioner (i assume), and the fact that the idle is a bit shitty and varying. all the power from idle is there though. the clutch will also probably need attention as it rattles a bit, but im not worried about that.

so i assumed must be shit in the carbs. took them off and found this? it plugs into the CDI with a 3 wire connector.

anyway, i'll find out if its the CCT when the carbs have been finished, but i did the usual bodge of put the piston back in, poke it down with an allen key then stretch the spring a bit. replacement will be there ASAP, but i very much doubt itll get much riding till it arrives.

is this an auto choke or a TPS or something? no bike manual y'see. (link to a PDF would be appreciated). it also has a manual choke though.

thoughts and ideas.

go

Thats a TPS, the clutch and cam chain rattle/slap are normal on RFS engines.

good to know. cheers Thumbs Up id still rather sort it though.

im guessing the TPS could be the cause of the low down shitty idling. ill clean, find a manual and set up to spec anyway.

also, it looks like its been ported at some point?

heres another one. yay.

what's this for? only thing i could imagine is its for the rear indicators that are non existent? the rear lights already attached.

https://img263.imageshack.us/img263/697/25042010150.jpg

under the seat, just behind the tank if you cant figure it out.

ive also managed to sort out the idling problem. turns out the tab on the throttle wheel thing was bent so was not in contact with the idle screw, so i just whacked it until it was

ive looked at those forums and they seem to imply that the rattle comes from a shit woodruff key, so ill be sorting that with parts from swampy come tuesday.

Can you not test to see if it is an indicator? Just put a multi-meter to it and then turn the indicator and see if the voltage changes on/off?
