Hey Guys && Girls!
First of all, I'm posting this to help out a friend
Okay..
Right i currently have a 650S 2000 Model SV and at the moment is in need of a new chain and sproket kit.
Now i am confident i will be getting a DID X-RING type chain but am in need of some advice.
Currently my rear sproket has 46 teeth and am unfortuantly unsure of the front (need to check.. too late) but am in the position where at 70MPH i'm cruising in 6th @ around 4900 - 5200RPM (kinda feels like i need a 7th gear). The bike also pulls really hard in the higher gears (1st, 2nd, 3rd) and continues to pull hard in the lower 4th, 5th and 6th (eg: pulls to 9500RPM in 6th @ 135MPH (.........Santa pod... ).
My aim is to gear the bike for better/higher top end. I've referred to https://forums.sv650.org/showthread.p...light=sprokets and am guessing mine is probably set at 46 rear 14 front.
Would i be right in saying if i set the rear at 46 and change the front to 15 i would sacrifice a wee bit of acceleration for a wee bit more top end?!?
(Please correct if i'm wrong...)
Finally!
Where is the best and 'cheapest' place to get both the chain (like mentioned DID X-RING) and sprokets?
Thanks again.
Regards,
Ryan |

I think you have 15F 46R.
The stock gearing is 15F 44R(Faired) 45R(nekkid)
I used to have 14F 45R and it was too 'buzzy' at motorway speeds.
The 15F 44R is Ok, but if you want a large change from what you have now, you need to go 15F 42R or something like that!!! ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |
