Considering doing this, any reason I shouldn't or better deals?

I've never ridden on anything worse than gravel and think an off road session will be good fun and help my riding.

"Off-road experience"

You'll get to ride various different bikes, you'll get some basic tips from the instructor dude, you'll get told how good you are, and other such stuff.

"We would encourage ANYONE with an interest in biking to take part - even people who have NEVER even sat on a bike are welcome"

Don't expect you'll learn anything much, it sounds like a day for people who've never been on a dirtbike before and want to have a play with an expert on hand to give them some tips and to massage their ego.

Looks like good fun.

There's always the option of coming down to Gingers Farm when the offroad lot go and blagging a go. It's not up to the standard of Golding Barn but then it doesn't cost £175.

Sounds like what I'm after the ego stroking is a plus. I'm planning on going with a friend who has limited bike experiance.

The Gingers farm offer is very nice and has been extended in various guises a few times, TBH I'd rather have a go on a bike I'm paying for as I wouldn't feel so bad about crashing it! without sounds like a prick, £175 is not a massive sum or money too me and I think it would be good day out. Althought I just realised I'm paying £164 for a weeks holiday so it does seem abit dear but I reckon it is worth it I day of hooning round a dirt road on a bike that isn;t mine brilliant!

Hopefully got a new exhaust coming for my 200 which should mean don't need much more to sort it - also the CRM has just (almost - just needs a tail light bulb which is the only advisory) passed MOT - both of which I'm happy to be crashed.
So if you do want a gingers play, sure we can accommodate, especially as we were planning to take another bike down there for some practice.

I definitely fancy a day at Ginger's with the 'crew'.

I did an off road school day. It was good. In the morning you do some wobbling around a little bumpy course, riding round some tyres, basic bike control.

Quick break, then do some wheel locking (front and rear).

Then go off to do a load of green laning in the afternoon. My mrs bought it for me for my birthday, can fully recommend it!

The Plan is to get there at 09:30-10 then ride about till 3 with a break for lunch in between.

Should eb a good crack, my semi crippled Dad is going which should be interesting. Laughing

I have done the one in the North, see my thread about it. I wasn't overally impressed, I didn't get to try different bikes and the most tuition was, to sit further forward (which they told everyone, all the time) and to slow down. They didn't seem all that interested in improving mine (or anyone's in the group).

Saying that I really enjoyed it, there where a couple of kids that had never ridden bikes and be to be honest for them it was a waste of money, they just went around a field off to the side getting used to controlling the bike with the clutch etc.

Here is my 'report', clicky

Enjoy it! Thumbs Up

My advice is have a few beers in the fridge for when you get home, you'll be knackered and need them.

Just on my way back now absolutely loved it and knackered doing loads of jumps getting the back end out. There where 15 of us in groups of five having a crack at the track at a time. We had lots of little sessions of about 3-4 laps per session a lap was about 1.5 miles. Coming down the hills was the scairiest part for me! Videos and loads of pictures to follow.

I went with my Dad and a Mate (Steven_191) We got there about 9.30 and got registered and kitted out, the kit was well worn but clean and fitted well. We had the safety briefing and were shown the bikes. I was in group 1 which was lucky it was me, my dad Steve, a young kid who had done abit of MX before and a guy who rodea CBR. Everyone kept decent enough pace, the Guy with the CBR was the quickiest and I was secnd to start with but getting towards the end Steve was pretty much as quick as me.

They Split the day into numerous sessions and we where hot swapping bikes aside from lunchtime bikes where constantly going round the track. Each session was 10 minutes-ish long, which sounds short but it wasn't it was enough time then you got a break and where a back on the bikes before you knew it. At the end of the day and was shagged out and probably could have done another few laps but was knackered.

The tution was great the guy was giving pointers the whole way through and now feel pretty confident on an offroad bike I'm considering getting one if one comes up at the right price.

Steve getting air

First and only spill, over cooked it and it spun round, what you don't see in this photo is steve coming round the outside of me yelling 'Suckaaaaaaaaaaaa' and then going straight on a crashing into a fence. Laughing

Those jumps where alot bigger, going down one of the big hills scared the shit out of me every time.

First session after lunch

It honestly feels like I'm goin alot faster than this. Laughing

Great fun I would recomend it to anyone who wants to see what offroading is like and has a day and £175 to spare.

Indeed we are! They do Wednesdays down there as well. Might be a bit quieter and we won't have the problem of being lapped by 12 year old girls.

Hang on, that sounds pretty dodgy...

Cool stuff chris-red!! Thumbs Up

I'm booked in for an enduro training day in Eastbourne in 10 days time and another in Oxfordshire at the end of May - am really looking forward to it! If it's half as much fun as your day looks it'll be a good day out! Thumbs Up

I need to learn a few basic off-road skills and find it really difficult to understand what I read or what everyone is telling me - need to actually do stuff for it to sink into my thick head! Just need to make sure I don't hurt myself, as only 6 weeks til I go away Rolling Eyes

I'm thinking about it but 2 issues,

1 I'm meant to be saving for a house, £1500 for an enduro bike then however much to insure it.
2 I can't drive so taking it anywhere is a pain I live in essex and I don't think there is anyway near enough to ride it.

Apparantly it is Every Wednesday and the First Sunday of every month they have bikes there on an open day, the guys running the Yamaha day said it is abit crappy though as there are so many people there he said there is often 50 bikes.

I liked the track though, I would like to go back and try it again there are 2 corners I constantly ran wide at I need to get right and you can get some serious air. I still can't believe how knackered I was.
