With Silkie's recent post about his cat Siddie, I thought this would be a good thread to start.

Post your pets Smile
Not, like, pushing your dog through a letterbox or anything, I mean, post their pictures, here. xD

I have:

Duke

Fat Bob and his lazer eyes. (We call him fat Bob because he was skinny when we got him). Collie cross we rescued last year. Such a gentle dog, he's brilliant. If I had kids he'd be the perfect pet/friend. (Facebook pic if you can't see it).

They're a bit straighter than they were.

As for insects, I flap like a girl when there's any near me Embarassed . I'm sure I'll get over it and get a gecko in a few years.

Now then, shall I start the argument? Yeah, fuck it.....

Dogs are much better pets than cats. Cats are old women pets, hence the phrase 'Crazy cat lady'. There's not really any enjoyment from owning a cat.

Man Up and deal with the bugs! Laughing

But don't get a Gecko. Srsly. You will never see it.
I baby-sat a gecko for a friend for 3 months. I only saw it, in total days added up, for about a week.

And.... Dogs come when then are called. Cats take a message, and get back to you.

Yeah I mentioned it last time we went in but they weren't particularly fussed about them TBH. They aren't that bad to be fair, it was somewhat exaggerated in that pic for some reason.

Oh, I'm sure I more than qualify as crazy and old, but I have to say these two are the first cats I've ever owned and they are really quite entertaining and very loving. I think the fact that they don't roam far and like my company means they are quite dog-like in that respect. I often have all three asleep at my feet, so whether the cats have copied the dogs or whether all cats can be like that I have no idea. The cats come when they are called and greet me if I've been out in the same way as a dog would. They are a great pet if you can't commit to walking and the ever demanding attention of a dog, but I do lurve my doggies and can't imagine life without one!

That's kind of the reason they're not as good as dogs for me. I don't really see the point of owning a pet if you're not going to commit to it. Taking on a dog is life changing, taking on a cat is a bit meh. There's just no sort of mutual bond with a cat.

The best bit about owning a dog is the walking for me. Prior to me getting a dog I would literally walk nowhere. I'd say I'd hardly walked further than a mile in one stint in the last 7 or 8 years, hence me being a fatty. Everyone I knew kinda made a funny look when I said I'd bought a Collie. I'd become used to hearing "They need a lot of walking you know". However, we go for a walk at least twice a day and we both love it. It's good for me to exercise and get out into the countryside and also rewarding to see my dog really happy, as you'd expect he loves being out and about. It's never become a chore as my friends expected it to be.

That's why I'd get no satisfaction from owning a cat. Feed it, chuck it outside and clean out it's smelly litter? No thanks. They can't even learn to not shite in the house!
